South Africa

For those of you who don't know I will be going to South Africa in a week as part of Champlain colleges Emergent Media center UN project group. The goal is to make a game to help stop violence against women in South Africa. While this sounds very colonial of us, we were asked by the UNFPA and the UN, and Population media center to do this. We are targeting South Africa specifically because it has the highest number of Rapes of any country in the world.

You have no Idea how excited I am to be doing this trip. We were looking at pictures of cape town yesterday and it look absolutely beautiful. And they have penguins ^_^.

Its all I could have ever asked for from college to be able to travel and work on games from day one. And Champlain has delivered every step of the way.

Its weird because I have friends who go to UVM and they all tell me how jealous they are of me because they don't get to do these things at their school, and I guess there are a few good reasons for that. UVM is huge for one so its hard for kids to really get noticed. Next is that Champlain even has the E-Game majors. This is a huge huge huge thing. Beyond that Champlain is willing to fund these endeavors and quite frankly its amazing that they do because I wouldn't be working on this project without Champlain staff faculty and support. Just all the opportunities that I have gotten in this year alone point to Champlain being an awesome school.
