15 Random Things About Me

My camera died and i had these really cool pictures and videos from the hypnotist show i went to on campus last week. So I'm having my old camera mailed to me while the other one is being fixed. So no worries... those pics and videos will show up eventually.

In the mean time -
You'll notice I'm very close to my family (even though their three hours away). I still call them almost every day (mostly on how to cook). So I thought it would be fun to take this thing my sister gave me through facebook and fill it out for all of you to get to know me. Feel free to comment me after reading this and try it yourself!

1. I am in the secondary education major because I feel I have a natural gift to teach and I love history. It has been the perfect career path for me. I've been thinking about becoming a college professor.
2. My favorite restaurant in Burlington is Sweet Waters. It's right on Church Street and it has the best soups. I will usually get the Maryland crab cake sandwich or the short sleeve.
3. I hang out a lot in our fitness facility. I'm almost always on the elliptical with my ipod. Either than or I'm in one of the classes like kickboxing, pilates, or strength training.
4. I'm also a member of the running club.
5. I ran a lot in high school. If you're from NH you probably seen me at a track meet. I think I was the only girl under five foot running hurdles. I also ran the 400 meter, the 600 meter and the 800 meter.
6. I also played soccer in high school. Soccer was my life! My whole family seemed to be involved in some way whether they were coaching, playing, reffing, or spectating. 7. The reason why I knew about Champlain College was because I played in the Essex Junction soccer tournament every year. When my sister was playing in the tournament I took a tour of the campus and fell in love.
8. Currently, I referee soccer, mostly in the summer time all over New England. It's one of my favorite things to do, and I love meeting new people at tournaments.
9. I work as a tour guide. It's the best job ever. I love the people I work with and I love to meet new people. I think the most important thing to do when you decide on a college is take a tour. You really have to see yourself at that college. When I first toured Champlain College, I knew it was the right choice for me because of the atmosphere.
10. Burlington gets a lot of snow. I sometimes love it and I sometimes hate it. Invest in a good pair of boots and a coat. I love my boots.
11. I snowboard, but not as much as I'd like to. I have a new Burton board, that I just bought in November. When I went to the Burton Factory Store (which is in Burlington!) I met so many snowboarders like Kelly Clark, Hannah Teter... ect.

12. I have a mac laptop. I have a hot pink case for it. Not only does it protect my laptop from scratches but it just overall looks cute. Small Dog is one of the best stores for apple merchandise and I'm there periodically.
13. I'm scared of clowns and spiders. Don't ask why... I just think their creepy.
14. My favorite shows are Grey's Anatomy, Gossip Girl, and Jon & Kate plus Eight. Honestly, who doesn't love those kids?
15. I really want to go to Europe someday (Which I will be next semester.) I'm going to be studying abroad in Ireland next Fall. I already know some friends who are going, and that seems to be all we talk about.

Before Finals

So, things have been very busy around here. During finals and the holidays I wasn't able to post.
Here's what went on:

Halvorsons:
Halvorsons is a great restaurant if your looking for a great bite to eat on Church Street. It's an even greater place to get your whole writing class to go to and share your work! The last day of class, Jim Ellefson, my professor in Intermediate Creative Writing, took us down to Church Street where we got to hang out, read our short stories and poems, and feed our bellies. Not a bad class huh?

Above is my friend Matt, who actually works at Halvorsons. He's also a great writer. Next to that photo, is Stacey.

YOGA
In another one of my classes called Content Literacy, a secondary education course, we were taught yoga from the master herself, Kathy Leo-Nyquist. Ok... so Kathy isn't the master but she sure surprised us when she could balance on her head. We all tried too... but were just not as talented as Kathy is. The only thing i was able to do was maybe touch my toes...

CORE
Finals went pretty smoothly. I had mostly projects to complete and present. In my CORE class, Scientific Revolutions, we had to complete a timeline. There were some pretty cool ones. In Aesthetic Expressions, my group had to present and try to sell something that was visually pleasing. We tried to sell a chutes and ladders board game that explored Renaissance artwork. We gave muffins and juice to the class as well to wake up at 8am on a monday morning. Another project that I found interesting was a group of students who designed Burton snowboards with Renaissance art.
