Get to Know Me
Hey Everyone!
I thought before I started writing, I'd give you some background about who I am and the kinds of things you might read about while you check out this blog.
My name is Monique. I am currently a junior, majoring in Marketing. I originally started out at Champlain as a Web Development major. I come from Midcoast Maine. When looking at colleges, I applied to seven, and got into all seven. I picked Champlain and I love it so much. The people and the professors are great. I have been so involved in a lot of different clubs and activities and have been able to meet many people and had some great opportunities.
I am currently working for Residential Life as a Resident Assistant. I have a great group of residents and it makes my job a lot of fun. I get to plan a lot of events. I also fill out paperwork, which is the not-so-glamorous part of the job. I also have a work-study job. I am working for the BYOBiz program at Champlain. If you haven't heard of BYOBiz, you should probably check it out.
I'll go into more on my classes later. I also am part of Champlain's Equestrian Club, which for those of you who don't know, mean's the college's Horseback riding club. I have been with the club since it first started second semester freshman year, by a girl who was actually my roommate. If you are at all interested in riding horses, or even if you never have before but want to learn, definitely check it out too.
And one of my favorite things at Champlain is the DREAM Program. DREAM (which stands for Directing through Recreational, Educational and Adventure Mentoring) is a mentoring program in Vermont. We meet once a week with some of the most awesome kids I have ever met and do a bunch of different activities, though football is definitely a popular activity, especially with a lot of the boys. If you are looking to be an education major or just like kids, I strongly suggest looking into joining.
I am off to go be on duty for a while and do my homework. I hope you find something I'm talking about to be interesting.
