The First Week Back from Christmas Break

Well, even though the break was very short, I missed hanging out with all my friends. Strange but funny how I longed to go back to school just to hang out with them again while on my break in Hawaii. But once I got back to school, reality set in because that meant going back into the classroom to learn, which I was actually pretty excited about. The beginning of this spring semester signifies that I have less than one year left before I graduate and get out into the real world. How exciting, yet I still think it’s very scary because I’m not completely ready. This spring also signifies that I have completed all of my volleyball obligations, and I do not have to attend practices anymore. This allows me to concentrate more on my studies and allow me to work a job for a longer amount of time 
The cool think about being a senior is that I don’t have to worry about practicing volleyball anymore in spring season. I instead now utilize that time to work at admissions and getting my homework done so that I can have some R&R. I also started to coach alongside one of my teammates a 13’s and under regional team. I’m really excited because I will be able to use my knowledge of the game to help the younger generation to become better volleyball players.
Classes were pretty easy this week. It is basically known as ‘intro week’ where all the teachers give out the syllabi’s and talk about future projects that we have to do. They list their expectations of us in the class, and what is due every day of the class; whether it’s reading assignments or research assignments. I am lucky because I only have 4 classes this semester (12 credits). I took on 16 credits last semester along with volleyball, and I didn’t do so well with my stress levels. I think my brain hurt at the end of every week just because I had so many tasks to do and to complete.
My best girlfriend, my close friend who went to China study abroad with me, and I went to our favorite Chinese restaurant on the third day that we were back- Beijing Gardens. We like to talk to the owner of the restaurant in Chinese to use what we have learned in the classroom. We always like to order our sweet-and-sour soup and our green-tea ice cream. It is so delicious  We have also found out that my favorite food from China, which is the dumpling called “baozi,” is made at this restaurant. I was so excited to hear that! We also got a fellow American friend of ours stuck on eating it every time we bring him with us. We go there at least once every other week…
