<![CDATA[I've just finished my final exam here at Harlaxton! Everyone is torn about leaving, excited to see family for the holidays but sad to leave our manor and friends that we've grown so close to in the last 4 months. Everyone's spent the last few days cramming souvenirs and clothes into suitcases, attempting to keep each under 22kg. The usual statements of "this is the last time eating at the Refectory" and "this was our last BS (British studies) lecture" have been flying around for days. Tonight we'll all head down to the Bistro for the Graffiti party, signing shirts and saying our goodbyes.
Those of us going to the school sponsored Italy trip load onto the coaches at 2am tonight, ready for an actual vacation with no worries of the homework we'll have or papers we need to write. I'll be spending 8 days traveling Rome, Florence and Venice. After the trip the rest of the students will most likely head back to the States to be greeted by their families. I will be catching another long flight and continuing on to China! This semester I've taken an online class on contemporary business in China, and now 10 students from UE and 10 from Western New England College will all travel to Beijing and Shanghai for 10 days of business tours and cultural events.
I won't have internet on these two trips, so this is my last blog of the semester. Sorry they've been so few! If you get the chance to come to Harlaxton, which I hope you do, you'll understand how amazing and busy the semester is all at the same time. To study in England and travel Europe, and even Africa for some students, has been one of the greatest experiences of my life. The cultures, histories and sites I have seen first hand have been amazing. I'm so thankful that UE's program with Harlaxton is so accessible and amazing.

<![CDATA[My amazing semester at Harlaxton College keeps getting better and better! Since my last blog I've visited amazing places like Stonehenge and a Roman Bath. I even got to taste the bath water, and it was definitely an experience. Hopefully that's the only time I'll ever have to drink hot water that tastes of sulfur. But that experience sums up a lot of this semester, I've done a lot of things I never thought I would and may never have the chance to do again.

Harlaxton offers so many opportunities for all the students who come. Independent travel is always an option, but the school trips are also really nice. Planning trips and making sure you catch all your trains and flights is definitely a stressful but very fulfilling experience. Going on a school sponsored trip is nice because the planning is minimal and the experiences are just as amazing! I'm happy with my semester's travel, mine was about half independent and half school sponsored.

Tonight is our big Costume Ball event! Lots of creative costumes are being put together right now! I'll add a link in my next blog to photos! Until then, here are some from past travels!

      Hello everyone!

I'm currently studying at UE's Harlaxton Manor in England! It's been a very exciting semester so far! Learning about the English culture has been a great adventure. Through school events, the Meet-A-Family program, and travels I've been able to see the culture first hand. This semester we've already held a Ceilidh (pronounced Kay-Lee) which is a night of tradition Celtic music and dance, an 80's night and costume party in the Bistro, and had some lessons in cricket and rugby.

Travel has been a huge part of my experience here at Harlaxton. Every week classes run Monday through Thursday, leaving weekends open for travel. Every weekend the school hosts a trip, whether it be a full three day trip or a day trip. There's also always the option of independent travel. I've already visited London, North Wales, Paris, Ireland, Stratford, Cambridge, and York. Tomorrow I leave on the school trip to Oxford, Bath and Stonehenge. It should be exciting to see such a range of places in one weekend.

We also take day long field trip for British Studies, a class all students studying at Harlaxton take. We've already visited Lincoln and the amazing Lincoln Cathedral and Belvoir Castle. Learning the British history is more interesting here where we actually go to see the Roman ruins and visit the cities we do presentations on then it ever could be in the States.

Here is a link to my facebook pictures from our arrival at the Manor! Feel free to add my if you would like to see more pictures from my travels or have any questions about Harlaxton or UE!
