Happy Thanksgiving!

Hello again!

Well, I'm back from Thanksgiving break, refreshed and ready to get back to classes. I attended a Leadership Conference in Orlando on the weekend before Thanksgiving. It was really interesting. I learned a lot.

I went to it through an organization I'm involved in on campus, Leadership Academy. I went with three other members and our advisor. We all learned so much from the different speakers. There were new leadership style inventories, as well as sessions about maximizing your capabilities. I really think our organization will grow from the experience.

Thanksgiving was wonderful as well. It was nice to see my family and fill up on good home-cooked turkey. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. It was nice to visit with my parents and just be home.

But, now I'm at my other home - UE. It's good to be back, although my roomate left our room with the AC on high, so it was almost as cold outside as inside when I got back. I think my betta fish was feeling the effects of the cold too because he was a little sluggish. Now things are back in full swing. I DJed tonight at WUEV and am starting to work on my final projects.

Our Leadership Academy members are in charge of creating a large scale community service event every year. Tonight they had to present their idea to our Advisory Council. They had such a good presentation and a wonderful idea. We will do a final vote on the project tomorrow, so if it is approved, I will have to share it with you.

Well, my marketing project needs to be worked on, so I better leave you for now. I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Stay warm wherever you are. It's beginning to feel like winter. It's so exciting to start Christmas season. We decorated the Admissions Office today - it has me in the mood for Christmas music. I try to hold off until December 1st though.

Have a wonderful week!

Countdown to Florida

Hello!

I hope everyone who reads this is coming to the Open House tomorrow! I'll be there, bright and early. It's going to be fun! I spent the day in Admissions today, helping out where I could.

This week was crazy. Well, I tried to be productive. It did not quite go as planned, but I did start on some final projects.

I guess I'm just excited for next weekend. One of the clubs that I'm in, Leadership Academy, is sending me to a leadership conference in Orlando, Fl. I can't wait! Leadership Academy is a group aimed at improving leadership and professional skills in its members. It's a two year commitment, and you actually graduate from it. I graduated two years ago, and am its assistant chair now. Four of us and our advisor are attending the conference. It should be really interesting. There are seminars on everything from negotiating to networking to promotions. I've never been to something like this, so I think I will learn a lot. I'm also hoping that we get to have some fun too. The conference gives us half a day to have fun in Orlando, so I'm sure we will spend time at a park. So, all my faithful readers, if it is a little longer than usual between bloggings, know that it is simply because I'm soaking up the sun in Florida...

Basically, my life now consists of finishing all the homework I have to make up for the classes I will miss. You wouldn't believe what two days of classes means. It's also getting towards crunch time, working on final projects every day. Some of them are more interesting than others. Right now, my biggest challenge is my final philosophy paper. We have to create our own ethical theory. Doesn't sound that bad, does it? Ha, until you realize how hard it is to have a practical ethical theory that stands up to any argument. Whew, its a doozy.

Well I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and that I see you at the Open House! Take care and stay warm!
