Happy New Year!
Well, I know it's already a little into January, but my January has been so busy, I can't tell which way is up! It's been a long time since I last wrote, and I won't bore you with all the details of my life... but I did have a whirlwind winter break...
First of all, I do not recommend getting your wisdom teeth out the day after you get home for winter break. It's a very big bummer to start off a break. It was no fun to be stuck with a diaper ice pack on all the way through Christmas. Santa made up for it though. I got both Guitar Hero II and III for Christmas! I was so excited!
I became a pro at it in the 3 days before I left for Cancun! I went to Cancun, Mexico with my boyfriend and his family. It was an amazing time. We saw Chichen Itza, the Mayan ruins, the Playa de Carmen, and tootled around downtown Cancun at Market 28. Of course, we also scheduled prime tanning time by the beach. The water is absolutely beautiful! We had a fabulous time and got back only 2 days before school began.
Crazy as it is, in those 2 days before school began, we found out my boyfriend broke his wrist and needed surgery. He broke it playing football in November! I guess he thought it was a bad sprain, until the doctor told him otherwise. So, we had our first day of school on Wednesday, and Thursday I drove home to Chicago with him for the surgery. My professors were so understanding. My boyfriend would be unable to drive, because of the pain medications, so I had to help out. My professors were kind enough to give me the heads up as to what I would miss on the second day of class so I wouldn't be too far behind.
While it's always nice to visit family at home, you always feel like you are missing out on something at school. There is never a dull weekend here. Something is always going on, to the point where it's hard to go home. We only got back a couple hours ago. It's been a wild week.
The one wonderful thing about going home was I was able to see my godparents. Rose and Larry are basically my second set of parents. Rose looked after me while I was little during summers and breaks. They recently moved to Minnesota, and I hadn't seen them since August. They happened to be in town this weekend. I was able to have dinner with them and my parents. I was so excited I could see them!
Well, I better get to reading... all my professors jump into the material right away, which means I spend Sunday nights reading. I suppose that's what all college kids do... except my roomate... ugh!
