Back to School
Awe... yes... back to school. I have so much excitement about the coming year and yet there is so much work to be done.
Intro
I guess I will start by introducing myself a little bit. I am a 3rd year Ph.D. student in the Fuller School of Psychology (SOP). I am 26 years old. Oh, by the way, I am a male in case you didn't know. For some reason my wife chose one of the girliest pictures I have ever seen of me for my profile. I am married to an incredible woman who works at Fuller and attends Fuller. We have been married for 3 years. We both did our undergraduate work in psychology at George Fox University. I grew up in Boise, Idaho. Well that is enough of that for now.
School days
The 3rd year of the Ph.D. program is a difficult but empowering year. I started my first major practicum this year working at a rehabilitation hospital. I work at the hospital about 15 hours per week doing individual and family therapy, psychological consultation, and group therapy. I am learning so much about medicine, psychology, and chronic health problems. I am also trying to finish my Master's project and start my dissertation. On top of that I am taking a full load of classes. Yikes! Like I said, there is a lot of work to be done, but I feel like I am finally getting to fully utilize all of the information I have been learning in my coursework.
Fuller Fun
There is never a shortage of things to do in Southern California. My wife has been out of town for about a week and I have worn myself out having fun. I play intermural football and pick-up soccer. People are always having parties at their house to play games, watch their favorite TV show ("The Office"), or share common meals. Sometimes it is tough to keep the fun under control and stay diligent.
More to follow next week!
