Final issue of the Collegian

The final issue of The Collegian came out this morning. Check the Web site for campus news during the summer.

The Collegian is the award-winning student newspaper at the University. I spent most of my time over the past year working for the paper. It has been an incredible experience that I hope to continue next semester.

Some highlights from the final issue:

1. Dodging the gun bill
2. Rex Fleming readers prepare for "A Midsummer Night's Dream"
3. Senior right fielder Andrew Taccolini sets records for the University baseball team

Happy belated Easter

Happy belated Easter!

Students joined the Spiritual Life Department in raising this cross last week as part of a campus-wide celebration of the life of Jesus Christ. The week prior to Easter is yearly celebrated as Passion Week at the University.

There is a bird at the very top of the cross.

Students volunteer in local community

Students from the Honors College joined their peers in a campus-wide volunteer effort organized by the Spiritual Life Department on April 4.

The Honors students, including myself, volunteered at Piney Point Elementary, a local school located about ten minutes from the University.

Several individuals worked on science projects with the students. Several students from the University worked to reorganize the music room, which was cluttered. I went with several other students to organize the library shelves.

We spent most of the morning working in the dusty library shuffling books. It was a tedious process. I discovered that I do not want to be a librarian, but I do want to volunteer more, so I may go back and work there again.

I took several pictures.
