Husky Fest 08

This past Thursday, HBU held its annual Husky Fest. Husky Fest is the equivalent to a fall festival of sorts. It’s kind of like a festivus for the rest of us, if you catch my drift. It’s really a nice event where holcombe mall which is the big loop that circumnavigates the academic buildings of our school. At husky fest, a whole bunch of organizations set up booths with various events and games. There were events such as pumpkin bowling, pumpkin painting, plus a variety of different food such as cotton candy and funnel cake.

However one of my favorite things that made a special guest appearance at husky fest was the moon bounce. Now most people usually associate moon bounces with little 5 year olds who are hopped up on mountain dew. Many people think that they’re just for little kids. Well I have news for them… they are WRONG!!! These things are the best thing since sliced bread (yeah I just went there) The moon bounces are an insane amount of fun. You put a bunch of college kids in a moon bounce and you see what happens. Pure, unadulterated, innocent, fun. It’s that simple really. Maybe it’s cuz I’m getting old (I just turned 20) but I realized how much energy I had when I was a kid. I used to be able to stay on those things for hours at a time without taking a break. But now, just being on it for 20 minutes left me out of breath, and a numbing pain in my legs. It’s quite ridiculous really. Taking a camera in there may not have been the wisest decision but I’m glad I did because the pictures and movies I took in there are priceless!!!

Besides the moon bounce, Phi Kaapa Psi a fraternity here, had a hot dog eating contest. I reluctantly joined the fray. The prize was an mp3 player. I did not compete for that. No Sir. I competed for the glory, the sense of accomplishment, and the bragging rights! Well actually that’s not right, I was just kinda hungry and I was in the right place at the right time! Lol well anyways, I took part and I don’t think I did too bad. I channeled Kobayashi the Japanese eating guru and plowed through my hot dogs. I started putting my dogs in the water and everyone else seemed to copy. They totally jacked my style! After hot dog number 4 I started thinking to myself… is this really worth it? I decided no and slowed down and enjoyed my hot dogs. They tasted delectable. So I finished in second (cuz one guy threw up) and I happily exited stage left! It was a fun day. I enjoyed husky fest and hope to enjoy another hot dog eating contest and moon bounce party next year!!!

Remember the Name... Stacy (male) Uy

Hey guys what’s up? This is the first post on my blog so I just want to take this opportunity to introduce myself outside of my bio on the website! Sooooooo… well my name is Stacy Uy, and despite the wrongs that have been committed to me by my parents, I am in fact a male. Lol yeah it’s a true story, I’m a guy and my name is my first name. Now you may be wondering, “Why Stacy or “where the heck did that name come from and I still ask my parents these questions to this day. The 80’s were apparently were a very interesting time period… oh well whatever.

My full name is Stacy Dustin Aurelio Uy. Yuuuup, I’ve got two first names. Some may find that weird but this is part of my culture. I am 50% Chinese, 50% Filipino, and 100% Pure unadulterated awesomeness!!! Hahaha I’m j/k, but yeah I like to call myself a “filachino which is a term I would like to copywrite for future references. But my second name is Dustin, yet I mainly go by my first name. People have asked me why I don’t go by Dustin instead of Stacy, and I’ve never really given in much thought. If you go by one name for 20 years of your life, I never really cared so much as to what people called me. At this point in time it really doesn’t matter much to me what people thing about my name because my name doesn’t define who I am as a person, instead, I define my name. So it matters not to me which name I’m called because I will be regardless!

I guess what you can get out of this post is that my name is Stacy and I’ve finally come to terms with my apparently unisex name… sooooooo thanks for your time those of you taking the time to read this, and I hope y’all will read more as I talk about my various posts on the happenings here at HBU (that short for Houston Baptist University for those of you that don’t know) I’ll probably go in depth about why I choose HBU with me being from New York and all, but I will save that for another post because it’s 2 in the morning and I am sleepy!
