For me, it is my senior year, and I'm pretty excited. Though i am a senior this is not my final year at HBU. I'll be here for an aditional semester. THe Conversion from a quarter system to a semester system kinda messed me up, and since i'm continuing to double major in Biology and Psycology, I need to take another semester to graduate with the double degree. But anyways, enough about me.The new freshman class is a lot of fun. Welcome Days 2009 was a blasty blast. Perhaps our biggest freshman orientation the school has yet to have seen, and it was great! From various ice breakers to service projects, to some pool party action, welcome days kicked off with a splash. And of course no welcome days would be complete without the faitful pack leaders and mushers, Merdith Haynes the student life intern and the Student Programming Board did an amazing job organizing welcome days! It was pretty sweet! The last school function and gettaway before finals start the following Tuesday!!! There are a plethora of organizations that are going to attend this year. They are all doing some sort of activity that is spring related/ game oriented. THis year there is a special treat for y'all. MErcy Rule is gonna be performing at it!!! we're gonna do a 17 song set at spring fling. We've been preparing in our spare time, inbetween studying for the bajillions of tests i have this week and for the impending doom known as finals week. In this event, we allowed students to stay on campus overnight and get an experiece with living on campus. It was uber fun and not even the rain could dampen our spirits!!! There was a torrential down pour but we all still did our thang and had a good time! On Friday night there was the BUX (Brothers under Christ) Island Party, as well as Comedy Sports improv comedy show. The Band Crash 45 consisting of several HBU students also performed! On Satruday morning, we began the information session, and yet more rain came down, yet we kept on trucking!!! It was a jolly old time!!! Everybody Loves Kiza... Part Deux! Represent!!! Mabuhay!!! The indeiginous Tinikling Dance!!! A Barong for the Guys, and a Maria Clara for the girls!!! This past Thursday nite, SASA (South Asian Student Association) hosted its annual Culture Night at HBU! SASA was backed up by the other cultural organizations such as HSO (Hispanic Student Association), ASA (African Student Association), and FSA (Filipino Student Association) The Nite was filled with various dances and songs from each organization's respective culture. SASA had a number of indian dance's which incorporated not only traditional moves, but some modern day spins on it. ASA had several Rap performances as well as a hip-hop dance presentation. HSO had a member sing a Selina song as well as their performance of Kaba Modern's Thriller dance mixed in with the original dance. FSA did a traditional dance called the Tinikling. I was a part of this dance. It's pretty much stick dancing. The Pictures expalin it all. In addition to performances their was also a fashion a show. Each organization sported their best wares from their countries and trodded down the runway style and finesse! The Slumdog Huskies!!! (notice the staple white guy! Scott Benjamin Floyd!!!) Filipino Student Association hip-hop routine choreographed by Jay Cooper and Ashley Arbilo!!! Jay as the Pupptet Master!!! Out "boy band" part of the dance! "Gone" by N'sync (R.I.P) ASA's Booty shakin'!!! THis past Saturday was the day of reckoning! yes that's right, Husky Review 2009 had come! it was an exciting nite filled with fun, dance and laughter! it was a blasty blast in my opinion. The acts ranged from musical performances to hip hop routines, to even exerpts of Shakespeare. Your's truly was in two acts this year! Yessir! i was in the FSA (Fliipino Student Association) dance act as well as our band MERCY RULE!!! It was sooooooooo much fun performing! I would not hesitate do partcipate again next year.
