College life so far..
Hey guys! I'm Tara Barker and I'm a freshman here at HBU. I'm so excited that I will be able to share with you some of the things that happen here on campus! I guess the best way to start this whole blogging thing would be to tell you a little be about me and what I'm involved in here at Houston Baptist. Well here are a few things: I graduated from Faith West Academy in Katy, I love sports and music, and I eventually want to go into church ministry. There are so many activities and organizations here at HBU! There is Greek Life, intramurals, club sports, music groups, drama clubs, and so much more. I myself like to do a variety of things. In high school I was very involved with athletics; I played volleyball, basketball, and softball, but I didn't want to continue playing sports in college. Intramurals allows students like me to continue their passion for athletics without the huge commitment our student athletes have to give. If you're into music, then HBU is a great place for you! There are choral groups such as: University Singers and Schola Cantorum. Also there is a band and opportunities to get involved in a local orchestra! If you love ministering to others through music, there are groups such as FOCUS and Refuge. I am apart of the amazing worship band known as Refuge! We play at a contemporary Tuesday night service offered here called "Quest," and it is an amazing opportunity to gather together with other students and worship our Lord together. Like I said, there are so many groups and ways to get involved on campus; whatever you enjoy doing, there are always other students who enjoy the same thing. Well, this was a crazy long entry... hopefully I'll get some pictures up here soon! Its Homecoming week! Go Huskies, dogs UP!
