Let it snow... in HOUSTON???
Hey all! So its been a little while, sorry but the last couple of weeks have been a bit hectic. I experienced many "Firsts" in the last month or so -- First college finals, first caffeine overload due to 4 finals in one day, first month off from school, and first snow experience in college... wait, WHAT? Back up--- snow?? Yes, my friends, that is correct. There was ACTUAL SNOW falling on our cozy little campus right in the middle of finals week. It was exciting for many to say the least. I will tell you of my own snow experience... Well, if you do not already know, HBU, like other colleges, has finals week. The exam schedule is put together way before finals ever take place, and on a RARE occasion... and I mean rare... ALL of your finals happen to be scheduled all in one day. I was lucky enough to be in this very situation. Well, because HBU is awesome, the school doesn't require you to take more than three finals in one day. BUT considering one of my finals was an in class essay that literally required no study time, and another exam required very little study time because I knew the material very well, I decided to take on the task of completing 4 finals in one day. My first was at 8 - Speech. It went well, took about 1/2 and hour, and I felt good about it. OK- that was easy enough... next was English at 10:30. It was the in class essay. I love to write- so no problem. Awesome, next was New Testament at 3:30. Well after about 1.. I started to feel the lack of sleep and the frying of brain tissue from studying and test-taking. Nevertheless, I went to NT and finished at about 4:10. I walked outside and witnessed the most pleasant surprise that could ever take place: snow fall. I WAS ECSTATIC. In fact, as I was told later, I looked like, and I quote--" A giddy little kid." Here comes the fun part of the story: Due to the 3 exams I had just taken, the caffeine overdose, the lack of rest, and the pure excitement of snow.. I was literally frolicking like a little child back and forth in front of the Hinton Center, and little did I know that two of my best friends along with their entire class saw me. As soon as they heard it was snowing outside their professor opened the blinds only to see me 2 seconds later skipping around the fountain attempting to catch snowflakes on my tongue. Needless to say, HBU students don't see snow very often, and when they do, craziness occurs (scraping snow off any surface in attempt to pack together enough snow for a 5 pound snow ball)... especially when its finals week.
