Back at HWS

I hope everyone had a refreshing and relaxing break! I really enjoyed my time with family and friends- an especially long six weeks this year! I was able to spend New Years in Boston, visit friends in New York, and hang out in my hometown of Princeton.

Early on in my break, I participated in A Day of Fine Arts in NYC through the Career Services Office. A Day of Fine Arts is a program geared towards individuals interested in a career in the professional art world. Accompanied by a group of HWS students, I met alumni from the Met, the New York City Center, Christie's Auction House, and the P.P.O.W. gallery. I have been working with Career Services since last year to secure summer internships in gallery and museum work. Last summer, they helped me find an internship with New Hope Arts, a contemporary sculpture gallery in Pennsylvania. This summer, I hope to work for a major museum before heading off to a semester abroad in Bath, England. I spent a good amount of time during break constructing applications for summer internships! Wish me luck!

I really enjoy my classes- Telling Tales: Narratives in East Asian Art, Political Protests in Comparative Perspectives, French, and V-Day and Feminist Theatre. Last year I became involved with the Women's Collective on campus after participating in their production of The Vagina Monologues. I can't wait to perform in TVM this year, and study the show and V-Day Campaign with my class! For more information on the William Smith Women's Collective, check out our great website at . For information on the V-Day Campaign to end violence against women, check out .

I am excited to begin another successful semester with Arts Collective. This semester we're focusing on one big event- the Spring Variety Show. We hope to encompass all student talents by inviting dancers, singers, writers, and actors/actresses to perform! It should be a great way to round out our incredible first year as a club! Our first meeting of the semester is tonight.

I had a great first weekend back at HWS! On Friday night, I celebrated my friend Yeasmine's birthday. We had a delicious dinner at a friend's apartment downtown, and headed to Yeasmine's house for a party with all of our friends. It is so nice to see everyone back at school. Spring semester is my favorite, despite the cold weather. I always enjoy when spring finally comes in April- the ground begins to thaw and everyone heads to the Quad. It's SO MUCH FUN, that you practically forget it ever snowed in Geneva!
