So, first and foremost, HAPPY PI DAY! I have not written a lot lately because I have been so busy. The weeks before spring break have been so stressful for me because of school work and the amount of things I had to get done before today. I am going home today, but while uploading pictures onto facebook and listening to music I decided I need to upload my blog, and put some pictures on here as well.

So what has been up? Since my last entry, I had my birthday, which was a blast! My birthday was a Wednesday, which stinks because weekend birthdays are always better, but my friend rock so it was awesome anyway. We went to karaoke night and sang all night, which was fun. The Thursday after that we went out to dinner at a restaurant called the Winner’s Circle. It was a lot of fun. Then I went home that weekend because I was really homesick, but not before I went to the Men’s Basketball 2008 PAC Championship. They won, which was awesome being only three seasons old. It was an amazing game. The next Friday we had the IU Men’s Basketball NCAA First Round game at Stockton College in New Jersey!!! That was so much fun, there were two fan buses that went and a lot of people also drove themselves. Even though they lost, we were still so proud of the boys. Great job guys!!

Me on my birthday!

Only bad part of that weekend was the fact that after getting home from New Jersey so late that Friday night, I had to get up super early for an open house. But, the open house was a lot of fun, as always, and I got to meet a lot of perspective students and give them tours!! If you haven’t been to an open house here yet, I highly suggest, even though they are early in the morning, they are still a lot of fun.

Me as a Wrinkle Gremlin

Then, this week was the opening of our Children’s Theatre show, Gary Grinkle’s Battles with Wrinkles and other Troubles in Mudgeville. We worked really hard to pull it off, and did. The set looked awesome and of course, we were awesome! This was Steph’s last play, and we will miss her terribly. I have not done a show yet without her!!

Steph, Me, Sarah, and Priscilla. :)

So now that all of my crazy work and the play are over, I really don’t have much to do besides clean up my room, pack, and go home! I can not wait. I am so excited to be home in my room, in my bed, and stuff. Even though I like my bed here better because it is better, seeing my family will just be awesome. I hope you all have a great Easter, and remember to keep your friends and family close. This was a bad week for my friends and family because we know of a few people who passed in different ways, but it still affected us the same way. I would just like to offer out a prayer to everyone who has lost someone in this month of March. To make us feel better we did get out and go to dinner at On the Border Wednesday night, so that helped a little. Sorry to bring up something sad, but it happens whether you are in college and not, and just remember that it is possible to get through the hard times if you have family and friends that love you. New and old, this semester would have been hard without my friends here at IU, my IU family. Love you guys (just in case you are reading this, lol). I hope that those of you who read this come to IU. We are family and may have dysfunctions at times, but when needed, we are there for each other. I love my IU family, and I will miss you guys over spring break!!! Happy Easter, and Happy Pi Day, everyone!

So I have been very busy lately! Since my last blog, play practices have started. This spring we are doing Gary Grinkle’s Battles with Wrinkles and Other Troubles in Mudgeville. It seems silly because it is supposed to be! In the spring we do Children’s Theatre, so that is why it is silly. I also have been planning events for the Math Club. This year we are having an awesome Pi Day celebration. A week before we are decorating shirts to wear on Pi Day to raise math awareness on campus. The night before Pi Day we are having a Pie Eating Contest. This should be a lot of fun. If you didn’t know, Pi Day is March 14th. I am very excited about it. Last Friday was also a movie night, sponsored by programming board. We watched “Licensed to Wed” and “Hitch.” Saturday was my first AIS of the semester. That was fun because I got to meet some prospective students and give them a tour. We also took them to the basketball games afterwards. The theme of the double headers on Saturday was “Think Pink” to raise breast cancer awareness. There were tons of people there, and almost all of them were in pink! The athletic department also dyed the Mac shirts pink and gave them out to students. I wore one while I followed Mac around as my second job that day.

So yesterday was Valentines Day. My boyfriend sent me a book of poems by Emily Dickinson. She is my favorite poet. I was so excited! My friend Jess and I got a Caricature together on campus yesterday, the best thing about that is that it was free, provided by programming board! We also sent each other “candy-grams” that one of the sororities was selling. I looooove chocolate!

This weekend should be a lot of fun. Tonight is the Valentines Dance. One of the good things about it is that you don’t need a date, and I am just going with a bunch of friends. I can’t stay up too late, though, because I have a math conference really early tomorrow. We are leaving at 7:45am! It should be a lot of fun. Two of my fellow math majors, and friends, are going, as well as one of our favorite professors. It will be a long day, but I am hoping that it will be very informational. Then Sunday I may be dressing up as a clown for the Children’s concert, but I am not sure as of right now. I also have a Be It meeting for the Catholic Leadership Institute. That should be fun because this time there will be pizza!

I hope to not be as busy this week and blog on time. Thank you all for bearing with me! Please check out again, I always have a lot to talk about!

So I totally forgot to blog last week because I have been super busy this semester. Lots of meetings, tons of homework, and all because I am taking 18 credits this semester. Why am I taking 18 do you ask? Because I love to challenge myself. Plus, I love math. : )

Anyway, what have I been up to? Well, I have class, of course. I have been working really hard to stay on top of all of my work too. Also, our class officers and I are planning a bingo at Camilla Hall, the retirement home for the elderly nuns, and working on planning Parent’s Weekend. Parent’s weekend is a tradition around here that does seem kind of like a high school tradition because we have a dance and brunch. I do know that a lot of college have Parent’s Weekends (University of Rhode Island, for example) and it is just to bring the parents on campus for more than to just move their child in. The parents get to meet their kid’s friends, and have a great time meeting other parents. Also, we have the Junior Ring Ceremony (our class) and the Sophomore Pinning that weekend. So, we have a lot on our plate.

Also, as Math Club President, I am trying to start planning Pi Day (March 14th) early. A good tip for event planning of any kind? Plan early. This way, there is less chance of something you want not happening, or something bad happening.

Something else that is super exciting is that I used the money I made at work over Christmas break to buy myself a Nintendo Wii! If you haven’t played the Wii yet, find a friend who has one, because it is a blast!!

So that is about it for now. I hope you all are keeping up with your school work! I know I will not get behind this semester! Check back next week to see what I’m up to!

So, my first week of classes for the second semester has come, and passed. I really like my classes, and the fact that I still have Fridays off to get a lot of things done.

I moved back in on Sunday, after stopping at my friend’s house for a little birthday bash. Then I had to unpack my car in the freezing rain. Winter is so silly! There were days of snow, and days of 60 degree weather this week. I never know how to dress!

On Tuesday I tried out for the spring children’s theatre play, “Gary Grinkle’s Battles with Wrinkles and Other Stories in Mudgeville.? If that’s not the title, I swear it is something close. I’m kind of excited about that. It should be a lot of fun, as children’s theatre always is.

Today I am going to the basketball games to help spot Mac, our mascot. It should be fun. There is a double header today and I will be at the men’s game. They are doing very well in conference, so cross your fingers!

Ok, so I am off to do homework now. Tomorrow I have the Leadership Refresher, which is for all student government people, and I have a BeIt meeting, so I will have no time for my homework. Have a great week, and check back later!

Ok, so now, as of yesterday at 1pm, I am FINISHED my finals! :) YAY! I spent all day in the math center with my friend Orfa on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, and we finished all of our finals! So far I only know how I did on my Real Analysis final, I got a 90%!! I'm so excited because I worked all day Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday on it!

Anyway, now I am excited to be home for a month. On tomorrow three of my friends and I are driving up to New York to walk around, hang out, and see Rent! It is one of my favorite musicals and I am so excited to finally get to see it on stage! Then my mom's birthday is coming up, so that should be fun too. Then a few days after that is Christmas, and that is a huge thing for my family to all be together. We always go bowling the day after Christmas, we've been doing that since my cousin Jeremy, now 19, was old enough to walk! Then, we are planning to go to Longwood Gardens on the 27th to see all of the Christmas lights. I am excited, because I have been there before, and now I get to go with my family so they can experience it. Then it is time for New Years, and as of now I still have no plans. Something will come up. Then its work work work back at the Harford Community College Bookstore until I come back to school on January 13, 2008. I'm going to have to get used to writing 2008. Wow.

Alright, so I hope all of you readers have a great holiday season. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanza, and Happy New Year! I'll be writing again when I get back to school!!

So, I’m in freak out mode right now. Well, it’s not really that bad, but finals week is crazy!! I finished my Lit paper this morning and had a conference with my professor. Now all I have to do for that is revise it and turn it in on Monday. I wrote my paper in the library today, and they have all new rentable laptops!! It was exciting. (I know, I’m a super nerd, but it’s really cool to get to use new stuff!)

This week has been full of work and Christmas parties. Monday we had our math club Christmas party. We had pizza, white and milk chocolate and cheese fondue, cookies, candy, soda, and of course, Christmas music. Tuesday we had our StAR Christmas party. It was a lot of fun. I am jealous because Steph won Super Bad on dvd. On the plus side, pizza again and this time ice cream cake!! Oh, and there was Guitar Hero too. It was a lot of fun. They also gave each of us a tote bag with Mac on it! Thursday we had a “party? in Real Analysis. Our professor is awesome at baking, and she made Christmas cookies and we listened to Christmas music while working on some of our proofs. We also ate some of the leftover food from the math club Christmas party. Later, I had the Godspell cast party. We had a lot of fun. My fondue pots made another appearance there with milk chocolate and nacho cheese. And of course, again, pizza. If there is ever a club or organization party on campus with out pizza, that’s just crazy! Ha-ha.

Almost forgot! On Sunday I went to my friend Matt’s house and made my first ever gingerbread house!! It was so much fun, and there were 10 of us making them! Here is a picture!

So, I’ll update next week, probably when I am home. I leave Thursday because I am finished after that! Good luck with the rest of the week, check back later!

I just wanted to update and talk about Godspell, which rocked the house. It has been said that it is the best show IU has put on in a long time, so I hope some of you got to check it out!! It was a lot of fun, and an honor to be a part of such a great cast and crew. Plus Sister Marcille rocks. She’s my fave. Here are some pictures of myself and fellow admissions StARs from the show. No action shots, but you can see our crazy stage make up. No, I normally don’t have that much eyeliner on.

Heather and I, again.

After the show, there were only two short days until Thanksgiving break, which was fabulous by the way, thanks for asking. I was home, had fun with some friends, did a little shopping, but not on black Friday, though. I love Thanksgiving because my family is all there, and my cousin Jeremy comes home from college at URI, a six hour drive from MD. I also went camping with one of my best friends, Matt, over break. We were with his family and some friends. It was cold, but a lot of fun. I love campfires. I did get a cold while there, sleeping in a tent when its 32 degrees out might have been a bad choice. Ha-ha.

After camping, I spent time with my family, and then drove back to school. Now is crunch time. Last two weeks of classes before finals. Before I can leave for break: 1 literature paper, 1 research proposal, homework catch up for real analysis, stats take home test, real analysis take home test, and an in class final for logic and one for Christian Ethics. Seems like a lot, but it is spread over 3 weeks, so that is good. I just need to work on my procrastination.

Well, I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. Check back next week and I will probably have more of my “to-do? list taken care of.

Ok so I am super excited about what happened last night, but I would rather go in order…

Into the streets last week was a lot of fun, for a change. Last year I raked leaves (boo) but this year I sorted canned foods for Chester County Cares, and I actually knew everyone in my group! So that made it a lot more fun. And I like to organize/categorize things, so that was better. And to top it all off- there was a radio. We sorted over 2,800 cans that day!

So this week was super busy with Godspell. We had tech rehearsal Sunday, dress rehearsal Monday, a run through Tuesday, and all songs on Wednesday. Last night, Thursday, was opening night. Sure, there were a few mistakes, but if there weren’t I’d be more afraid because even professionals make mistakes. I remember during Spamalot last year a professional dancer fell down the stairs, hahaha. Poor girl. So anyway, I went to pick up pretzels at the West Chester Pretzel Factory for us to sell at intermission. Getting there was fine, we got a little lost but found our way. Leaving West Chester was the problem. We got really lost. Luckily I had my friend Allison with me because I would have lost my mind, probably cried, and then asked for directions. We finally figured out where we were after driving for a half an hour and finished the rest of our errands.

Show time… The actors and actresses last night were spectacular. The audience gave them a standing ovation!! This is a great moment for IU, our first musical in a long time and it was accepted. And to be a part of making that happen feels amazing. I hope to have some pictures at some point, but I was so busy last night I forgot about my camera!

Well, I have a laundry list of things to do today, IU DAY TOMORROW! YAY!! Check back next week, I hope to have more pictures, and I may sneak some from an IU day to show you how great they are!!

So this week got away from me big time! I just realized that it was Friday and I hadn’t updated my blog yet! AHH!

Last weekend was a lot of fun. Saturday was my first AIS (Admissions Information Session). It was fun. I got to give a tour, my first one in a while! I love giving tours, though, because it is fun to talk to prospective students and their families. That night we had Amethyst Night, which is for alums. There is a nice dinner served and a huge silent auction. I was there with my date, Mac. He was a big hit! All of the alums loved him! Our mascot rocks. After that was Miss IU. I like to describe Miss IU as being like the Miss America pageant, but without the swimsuit competition. The theme this year was broadway musicals. I don’t know if you know, but I LOVE musicals. The opening number was from Hairspray, which is a fabulous musical set in my hometown, Baltimore! They also had songs from Jersey Boys, and Footloose. My friend Latoya won. It was so much fun!

This week was the usual. Lots of class, lots of homework, lots of rehearsal and club meetings. Godspell is getting really good. I am SO excited for this show! If anyone wants to come check out the Cue and Curtain Players, now is a great time! Godspell is November 15, 16, 17, 18, 2007, all at 8pm except for Sunday the 18th at 2pm. Adult tickets are $10, any student or senior it is $5, and children under 6 are free. Also, there is a special IU student night on the 15th, it will be $2 to get in if you have an Immaculata student ID!

Thursday night we had our first ever math/computer science/physics/information technology department meeting. It was really cool to see us all in one room. And, there was pizza. Ha-ha. We talked about classes being offered and how to register online, since it is the first time our university is doing online registration. I checked my account out, and I can register with the Seniors! That doesn’t seem that great, but it really is. That means that I get to register on the first day, and will more likely get all of the classes I want!!

Well, I am off. Tomorrow is Into the Streets and I have to get up really early. I hope to have pictures from this, because our t-shirts are AWESOME!! Go SAIU!!! Check me next week!

THIS WEEKEND WAS CRAZY!!! That about sums it up. Haha.

So last week was a lot of fun, and a lot of preparation for the Halloween dance. The Haunted Grotto was cancelled because of rain. There was seriously a monsoon for like three days. So, I was sad about that because it is a really fun event, but that gave us more time for the dance. The Monster mash was on Saturday and we had a GREAT turn out. Tons of people were there and they loved our decorations, which we spent all day Saturday putting up. We gave out prizes for the best costumes in these categories: couple, group, and best friends. Everyone seemed to have a great time. Oh, and my favorite part (stupid, I know) was our cupcake sheet cake. I’ll include a picture, but we got them from Giant and they looked awesome and were everything we wanted!

My favorite of the 2 sheet cakes.

Me and Linds, she was a die hard Backstreet Boys fan (lol) and I was a ref. I borrowed the costume from my bff, but the pink tights were MINE! I love tights.

Sunday was the Malvern trick or treat parade. We had a lot of fun there. I’m not really supposed to say this, but I was Mac that day. I’ll include a picture of that too. Mac walked in the parade and then gave out prizes too. We went back to the house of the woman that runs the parade and ate some amazing food. There we met “Mr. Movie,? a radio personality. So we ate and talked to him about our favorites movies. He said he is going to talk about us on his show this Saturday night and that we are welcome to come and to the radio station for the show anytime we want. My only problem with the end of that statement is that his show is from 12 midnight to 2 am. Haha.

I’m sorry that I didn’t update at my normal time. This week has just been so crazy. Check back next week, I’ll update again!

This week was definitely less crazy than last week, and a lot more fun. I did have a take home midterm due this week, and an in class English midterm (AH!), but they were way easier than last week’s Real Analysis test, which, by the way, I got an 87%!! I also feel a lot better than I did last weekend, that always helps!

Friday night I went out with a few friends to Cheeseburger in Paradise. We had so much fun! I ordered the Chocolate Nachos and a few of us shared them. They were sooooo yummy! Here’s a picture of me and my friend Lindsay, and then one of me and my friend Seta!

Saturday I went to a Math Career Conference with my friend Anthony and one of our math professors, Dr. Molli. It was at Westchester University. It is a very nice school, and the sessions that we went to there were very informative. I know I want to go to grad school, so I went to a talk about that and it was given by 2 students who are in grad school right now.

Saturday night was an adventure. My friend Jess and I went to Phoenixville to see my friend Katie in “Assassins? the Musical. It wasn’t that easy, though. So I got directions off of Mapquest- my first mistake. It said to keep following Rt 29, so I did, and made a right at some point, and that ended up not being the correct way. Backtracked. Then we were on the phone with friends who were kind of from the area. We ended up in Phoenixville at one point, and asked a couple who were walking their dogs for directions. They said we had to go “in town? and gave us directions. We then got lost “in town? and just drove around for a little bit, and finally found the parking lot, and followed other people to the theatre. It was crazy. And it should have taken 20 minutes to get there, but it took us an hour, so much for stopping at Taco Bell for dinner! Once we got to the theatre we were fine. The show was hilarious! Definitely not for people under the age of 18, but it was great, and my friend Katie was fabulous!!

Today was the induction ceremony for a bunch of honor societies. I was inducted into Alpha Psi Omega, the Theatre Honor Society. It was neat. After that was the Honors Convocation: where students are honored for being on the Dean’s List or for being part of different Honor Societies. It is a nice ceremony and we all wear our academic attire (cap and gown). Afterwards my parents and grandparents went out to TGIFridays for dinner. It was sooooo good!

And that leads me to now: bored after a busy weekend and doing homework. This week will be really busy too… Next weekend we have the Haunted Grotto, the Monster Mash, and on Sunday the Malvern Halloween Parade. I am really excited about next weekend’s festivities, but at the same time I cant wait for them to be over because it is a little stressful planning for big events such as the Monster Mash.

See you next week, and PREPARE FOR HALLOWEEN! Maybe I’ll have pictures from the dance. I cant wait to decorate!!

So I was looking forward to this weekend so much, just to end up sick. It started out well, on Friday morning my friend and fellow math major Orfa and I went to a Montessori school in Malvern with one of our favorite math professors, Dr. Molli Jones. Her son goes there. It was so awesome and the kids were so smart! We observed a class that was full of second graders through fifth graders. I didn’t understand how that worked out at first, but after seeing it first hand I was amazed! We were mostly interested in the methods the students used to learn math, and while watching them work in small groups or independently, they explained to us exactly what they were doing. I was stunned to find a forth grader taking the square root of a number in the hundreds and a third grader solving a long division problem in the millions!

Saturday was the worst day of my sickness. I felt terrible and cold all day. I went to my friends wedding, and of course, like any other girl, I cried. It was a beautiful ceremony and she looked like a princess!! No wait, she looked like a queen! I went to the reception, but left early because I didn’t feel well.

Last night was super fun because it was my first rehearsal in a while for Godspell, and all of the philosophers were there! It was so fun, and I had forgotten how much I love the stage in my few months away. I also took head shots of Ken, who plays Jesus because he wont be there tonight for the official headshot night. Of course some of the other principals got involved in headshots last night. Theatre people are such hams! (and I include myself in that too!! Tee-hee.)

So besides crazy homework-ness, that is what I have been up to. Sorry I didn’t write on Sunday like I normally do, but I totally forgot because I was in bed sick all day! Check back next week, I’m sure I will have something interesting to talk about then too!!

I had my first midterm this week. I think I did okay, I studied, and I even did all of the extra credit. I’ll know how well I did Wednesday night. I got back my first paper of the semester on Wednesday too. I did way better than I thought I was going to do. On Thursday we had our first Junior Class meeting of the year. There was a pretty good turn out, more than showed up last year. I think everyone liked the fact that we started on time, and the meeting was no longer than 10 minutes. Short and to the point, with time for questions- those are meetings everyone likes, right?

I went home Thursday night for the first time since Labor Day. My family and I went out for my dad’s birthday to Outback Steakhouse, one of his favorites. It’s weird, but one of my favorite things about that place is the bread they give you. It is fabulous. My mom was running late because of traffic and 5 of us went through 4 loafs of bread. We had a cook out the next day, and my mom had bought cheese filled hotdogs. They were actually really good. But after that, my 2 best friends and I went to get snowballs. Now I know what you are thinking, snowballs- those marshmallows with the coconut on them? No. Snowballs in Maryland are totally different. They are more like a snowcone, but of course better, especially with marshmallow. If anyone is from MD, go to Icy Delights, there’s at least 4 stands in the greater Baltimore area, they are my favorite. After that we had Scrabble night with a few friends. It was fun, but I am terrible at Scrabble, which is why I LOVE spell check.

Next Sunday will be more interesting. I have a lot planned this week, including a wedding!!! I’m so excited!! ? So, check next week for something a little more interesting than food.

This week was more relaxed than last week, which is super exciting. I had the same amount of classes and work, except for that paper that I procrastinated on, but I had a ton more meetings and I ran a Calc 1 math review with my friend and fellow math major Erin. One of the meetings I went to was my “Be It? group, which is part of the Catholic Leadership Institute. We have these meetings every three weeks. Another meeting was the Inner Circle. At this meeting every club is represented by one or more of its leaders to come together and discuss activities on campus and learn the processes for event planning. That meeting had an awesome turn out; there were about 50 people there! Another exciting meeting I had was our class officer meeting. The class of 2009 is planning the Halloween dance this year. I love to plan dances, especially themed dances. One reason is because my creative side is able to come out and another reason is because dances are good fundraisers for the clubs.

Now on to my exciting weekend! Yesterday, Saturday, the Alumni Association of IU hosted a trip to New York to see Wicked. My best friend Emily came up to see it with me. We had a blast in NY just walking around to different shops, and especially in the huge Toys R Us in Times Square. Our show was at the Gershwin Theatre, which is pretty big, compared to the Hippodrome that I am used to at home. We had awesome seats! We weren’t in the first sections in front of the stage, which is good because your neck starts to hurt from looking up the whole time, but we were in the section behind that. The set was beautiful, and the costumes were so detailed. And, of course, the show was fabulous. The singing and acting were great. I don’t know if you know the story behind Wicked, but it is about the Wicked Witch of the West before, during, and after the Wizard of Oz. I already told my mom I want the soundtrack for Christmas, ha-ha.

So, that is my exciting weekend. We didn’t take many pictures in NY, only ones in Toys R Us. If I can figure out how to add them on here, I will! I hope you have a great week, and stop by again and see what I’m up to!

So... This is my first post in my first Blog for Immaculata!! I'm super excited. If you are reading this I hope that you are super excited! Ha-ha.

First, let me tell you a little about myself. I am a junior, and right now I am 20 years old. My hometown is Baltimore, MD. I went to Eastern Technical High School and my “career major? there was engineering. I am a math major and I am thinking about minoring in philosophy. As far as what I do on campus, here is a list: secretary of the class of 2009, president of the math club, admissions StAR, math center tutor, mascot dog pound, and I think that is it.

This year has been nuts so far! I've been keeping myself so busy I don't know when to sleep! We’ve had a lot of fun events so far on campus, and really good turn outs for them too. Yesterday was our annual family picnic. It was so much fun! One of my best friends from home, Matt, came up to visit. On back campus we had stalls set up with a ton of games and popcorn and cotton candy! There were games, like potato sack races and balloon tosses, as well as raffles. I hosted the math club’s “Lets Make a Deal? table. It was a lot of fun. Everyone’s families were invited, and kids of all ages and the younger kids were so cute! There were also games going on as well: field hockey, tennis, and men’s and women’s soccer. Our just unveiled mascot, Mac, was there too. Everyone had a lot of fun and Mac is so cute!! We also had a comedian/magician on Friday night. He was really funny and did some awesome card tricks. Our families were invited too. The funniest part was when it was silent except for the performer talking, and this little girl behind me busted out laughing for no reason! Ha-ha!

Today was our first IU Day since we got back for the year. It was a lot of fun. I am super tired though!! My favorite part was definitely the mini donuts!! I love food. But, all in all, it was a lot of fun. The set up was different than any of the StARs were used too, but we made it through. We gave two tours, which was nice, one to the parents and one to the students. When we do it that way, the parents and the students are more likely to ask questions, because sometimes they are intimidated by each other. I am a very animated tour guide, and I think I should have stretched before the tours, my back hurts!!

Well, I hope that I didn’t write so much that you were bored! Come back and see what I’m doing sometime, there’s always something new going on at IU! See you next week!!
