Everytime we say goodbye!

Well, it is very near the end..only a few days left!! Many people are beginning to leave campus, and most people are looking forward to the end of the semester and going home! But, Immaculata has not left us yet! For instance, this week, we have had a lot of events to relax us before finals! For instance, last Wednesday, a hypnotist came to school! I went up on stage, and while i was not completely hypnotized, I still had a great time!! Also, I am going on a retreat this weekend, very similar to one that I went on at the beginning of the weekend!! Unfortunately, I'm missing a party in the Admissions office which should be a blast!! Oh well, but I am looking forward to the summer.

This summer I am planning on going down to Virginia, working in Admissions and at Chick-fil-a(like I do during breaks), and above all, going to a BILLY JOEL concert!! I look forward to it! Well, this is probably my last blog of the year, so if I don't come back and blog in the fall (which I hope I do), I wish you all the best luck in your college searches and I hope to see you all at Immaculata University soon!!

We're near the end!

So, I am talking to you in midst of the busyness that April has become, and the end is close to being near! However, we had some great events last weekend that provided IU with a nice break! One, Spring Gala, the main spring dance, was a success! I had a great time, and I know the other students did too! The next day, our BIG event, Spring Fling, happened on back campus. They had a bunch of inflatables things, sno cones, a DJ, and human foosball, which was a lot of fun! I wish any of you could have been here to see it, because it was an absolute blast!!
I am almost done all my work. All that's left is two papers, one that i can revise, exam essays, and a few finals and then I am done!!! Well, until next week, hopefully I will be a little less busy!

Spring things await!

So, this weekend was Parent's weekend, and in my opinion I believe it went really well! For the first time, the father/daughter dance became open to all students and parents. I went with both of my parents, and it was an exquisite night! They had great food (including shrimp) and we had a social in the Green room. While the dance was less attended than in previous years, everyone who attended had an excellent time. They played oldies the whole time, which I loved!! I had a great time, and I know my parents did too. The next day was my Sophomore Pinning Ceremony, in which, as one of the traditions on campus, I received my Amethyst pin. After that, me and a good amount of my friends went to Carraba's to celebrate (where the food is excellent)!
This weekend, there are more interesting events occurring, which I like to call the Spring things! Spring Gala, on Friday night, is coming up, and I am excited for that as I am with all dances. Also, Spring Fling is this weekend, and I can't wait to see how every thing's going to fall together with that. I won't tell you what it's about until the weekends over, so you'll have to read my entry for next week. Three weeks of school left!

Keeping Busy

April is a very busy month in the academic year, and I have failed to remember how busy it was. Every person I come up to and ask how their day is, one word sums it up: tired. Research papers, projects, and finals make April a fun month. But, I digress. Accepted Student's Day was this past weekend (I hope I saw many of you there) and I think it was a success. We who work in the Admissions office had a great time and we got to see most of the students who will be arriving here next fall. I am looking forward to their entrance.
This weekend is Parent's weekend. Instead of having the Father/Daughter dance like they have in the past, IU has opened up the weekend to all parents and students, creating a new tradition. I will be attending, and I am looking forward to that time I can break out my dance moves with my friends and parents. Also this weekend is the Sophomore Pinning Ceremony. I don't know what to expect, but it is one of the treasured traditions on this campus, and I am looking forward to that formal event, where we have to dress in the gown we have to wear for graduation. I will tell you about it next week, so until then!

Back for One more..month

Hey Everyone! Sorry it has been a while since I blogged, but spring break consumed me! I had grand plans of doing research for my various research papers due this month, but I ended becoming extremely lazy and I decided that the majority of my work would be left undone that I brought with me. But, now is the time to work, as April for me is probably one of the toughest months of school by far, because every major project or assignment for some classes are due at this time. Anyway, the good thing is that once we pass the April hump, school's out for summer!! But, of course there are a lot of fun events to keep me busy in between. There are some interesting events ocurring this week as part of Act, Speak, Build Week which involve everything from a Prayer service to a cardboard box house making contest to a sleep out on back campus. Hopefully, if my work doesn't bog me down, I can attend most of these events!!!
One final note: If any of you are coming to the Accepted Student's Day this weekend, I hope to see you there!!!

Spring Break!!! Mr. IU and other things.

So, last weekend was quite an interesting weekend to say the least. One, we had an Open House here last weeked, and I think it was a great success!! Two and lastly, we had Mr. IU, which is kind of a male pageant type(not really) of thing that involves casualwear, formalwear, talents, and a question portion. Me and three other guys went out for it, and it was a great show!! Andy Halstead, a freshman here on campus, beat out the other three sophmores who were fighting for the title, so congrats to him!!
Today starts Spring Break!! It has come to the point in the semester when I believe everyone needs a little break from school work and time to relax. While most people will be leaving today, me and a few other people won't be, as we will be going on a SEARCH retreat, the first of its kind at Immaculata. It should be an exciting time, and I'm really looking forward to it. However, once the retreat is over, I need to use my break entirely so I can do research on three papers I need to do, and hopefully I can knock them out during the weekend. I will let you all know how my break went the next time I'm here. So, until then, hasta luego!!

Oh, what a weekend!!

So, the IU men's basketball team made it to the NCAA tournament after beating Gwynedd Mercy in the PAC championship!!! So, that means that we're going to be playing Stockton College on Friday!!! Unfortunately, I will be missing the game again (you would think I'm not a fan of the team), for I am putting all my efforts this weekend toward Mr. IU!!! If you are around the area, and especially if you are going to the Open House on March 8th, you should come out for the show, for it's free for everyone who wants to watch it!! I think it's going to be an excellent show! But yes, anyway, the weather's starting to get nice around here, as spring starts to show up. Better times are soon to come weather wise!!! (alas, with a bunch of homework) Until Next week!!

Exciting Things Going Around!!

Hey Everyone! Happy Leap Year day!! I am writing on a day of big activity on campus! As I type, there is a huge Pep Rally going on to celebrate our men's basketball team going to the PAC Championship tonight!! We are playing Gwynedd-Mercy in our gym, and it was really tough for people to get tickets, as there is a limited amount of space availiable. Unfortunately, I will not be going to support our Macs tonight, as I am actually going home. In addition, the Senior ball for the seniors is tonight, and as my girlfriend is a senior, we were going to go, and decided not to. So, on and off campus, Immaculata will be bustling today and tonight! I wish the best of luck to the men's basketball team as they go against Gwynedd-Mercy tonight!
As for next week, Mr. IU is next week, and I'm entering the competition. It's like Miss IU in the fall, but with guys, and it's always a good show!! I still have to work on my talent. So, if youre in the area next week, I need all the support I can get ;)..ha..anyway.until next week!!

Snow Day and more!

It took a while, but a full snow day has finally come around to Immaculata..even though it landed on a day that I only have one class! So, otherwise, I can't win with getting a lot of classes off..ever!! Anyway, the big event on campus now is that our men's basketball team got to the playoffs!!! We played a very tough game against Eastern University, with both sides there in full fashion at our gym to cheer for their teams. MAC and the cheerleaders were there in full fashion, cheering on our Mighty Macs. And, we won by ONE point, 64-63, so the school was in amazing spirits!! I look forward to the playoffs next week!!
Other than that, I have nothing to report on what is going on in my life, or at least what's coming my way. I'll keep you posted.

Ice could've been nice!..,and other things

Well, last night there was a mini snowstorm followed by freezing rain, which left a sheet of ice on the ground. As I was walking back to my room last night from my girlfriend's room, I realized how slippery the ground actually was, as I fell on the ice not once but twice. Therefore, I, along with the rest of the student body, was wishing for no classes! However, we still managed to have classes today, even with the melted ice and puddles around! But, that's what I'm here for I guess!!
Last Friday, I helped run a Movie Night for Valentine's Day in which we showed Hitch and License to Wed, both really good romantic comedies. We had a good amount of people show up too, which was great!! Also, on Saturday, I went out with my friends Laura and Betsy and we tried the local cuisine at Carraba's, which, if you come to Immaculata, you must go to because the food is excellent!!! That was practically my weekend, but I have a bunch of homework, a dinner trip home, and a IU girls basketball game this Saturday!! By the way, our guys basketball team is doing excellent this year, and I think you all should come down and see how good they are doing! Hopin for the championships this year!!! Well, until next week!!

February 6, 2008

As February sets in (Phil said theres going to be six more weeks of winter, John McCain, Hilary Clinton, and Barack Obama knock out the primaries on Super Tuesday,), I'm starting to feel the pressure of my classes bearing down on me like I havent felt for a while! I have a lot of reading to do, especially for my history classes, so every week its like a project finishing those books. Also, I have these little assignments that just seem to pile up out of nowhere and decide for you that time spent less with friends, videogames, and Sarah, my girlfriend, come by. Ah, the life of a college student!
Anyway, Lent begins today, as Ash Wednesday was celebrated at IU today! Many people, including myself, have ashes on our forehead reminding us of our small existence on Earth. As for what I am giving up this Lent, I have decided to give up root beer, which, if you know me, is a huge sacrifice, as I would drink it all the time. Right now, I am doing fine, but soon I will come to savoring the flavor of root beer on Easter. Well, I have got to get ready for my Theology class, Intro. to Christian Ethics, so I will leave it at that.

What a long day!

So while I usually talk about how the weeks going, nothing interesting happened this week except what happened today, so I will tell you what happened today. I woke up at 5:30 (yes you saw right) in the morning, probalby like most of you seniors and I had to leave IU by six this morning. Why you ask? I had observations today..in Philadelphia. In the first semester of this year, we went around to schools in the area and we observed a variety of teachers. However, this semester we go to a single teacher in an urban setting and we are with this semester for the whole semester. Well, I went to Saint Hubert's Academy, an all girls school(if any of you who are reading this go there, find me..im not that hard to find) and I am with a World History teacher named Ms. Snowden (she graduated from Immaculata)..overall my experience there was good..and im looking forward to how the weeks are going to go...then i came back around 12ish and things..had a few meetings..spanish class (which of course is always an interesting time)..and finally capped it off with intermural kickball (which we stopped because the ball got stuck in the ceiling haha)..now im sitting here typing to you all after my long day, about to go to bed. So..until next week!

January 24, 2008

Well, it has only been nearly two weeks since I have been back at immaculata, and the busyness has already set in! Even though I got some free time yesterday and actually went to go out to friendlys with my fellow blogger kasey and other admissions people such as ej and janelle, those free times come shorter and shorter nowadays. All of my clubs and everything have already begun to plan events for the rest of the year, and it looks like its going to be a fun year. For programming board, which organizes the majority of events on campus, we are going to have more dances, a valentines day movie night (Hitch and wedding singer i think) and even a hypnotist, which im very excited for!! Last week we had this game show come around and everyone who went up had the chance to win a good amount of free money. While I went up and was so close to getting a chance to play in the final round, I lost and I ended up with no money. The girls who got the most ended up with 45 or 50 dollars, so heres hoping for that show to come back so I can have a second chance at free money!!
As far as schoolwork goes, so far I have had to do just a bunch of reading, but I have a feeling that all of the writing is going to hit me in the face, and I know that that is going to be a blast!! oh well. Well I am going to get some lunch in the cafeteria now, so until next time!

Getting Back

Hey Everyone! I'm sorry it has been a while since I have been blogging. Finals week kept me busy and then Christmas break began, but now I am back. My grades ended up very well last semester, and I hope to repeat my success this semester (I won't say what I got). Anyway, my Christmas break had nothing too exciting to talk about. I worked in the kitchen at my home Chick-fil-A over break, and I had a lot of good times with my family and my closest friends. But, now I am back at Immaculata, and so far its been really good. I had the Freshman Retreat to start things off that I probably mentioned in my last few blogs, and I have to say that it was a great success!! I really got to know more of the freshman class and I grew closer to people who I had known already. We had many good times, including apples to apples, a campfire, and more!! But it was also a good spiritual refresher for next semester. As far as my classes so far, its been going well, and I know my history classes are going to be a lot of work. I have to wait to tell you about Spanish, because yesterday we had Evening classes CANCELLED!! woot!! anyway, just wanted to let you all know I am still around, and now that the school years up again, im here to blog!! Until next week!!

Smooth Sailing!

Well, it's almost here! The end of the year!! And, after I had a few rough days after Cotillion (which I'll get to in a second) working till 2:00 on a Spanish paper and giving multiple presentations, it's smooth sailing from here on out! All I have to do now is two papers and three tests that are not even cumulative, so I got the easier piece of the cake than most of my friends:). The nice thing is that it is a great Christmas present. As I said last week, Christmas is already in swing here! Cotillion was last Saturday, and overall, it was a really good time! It felt like it went so fast, but that's maybe because I arrived an hour later that what I usually do..ha. Anyway, yeah the Christmas banquet was on Sunday too, and I can always say, I love the food at Immaculata at two events in particular, the Christmas banquet which happened last Sunday and the Feast Day this Saturday, so I get the best of both worlds this week!! The Christmas trees all up and everything, and Carol Night, one of my favorite traditions on campus, is happening on Friday! A good number of students meet up and go around the big Christmas tree in the Rotunda and sing Christmas carols with the choirs, which is so great! Alright, well I'm going to begin my relaxing for a bit (My Math class was cancelled today so I don't have a class till 2:25, which I have finished all my work in ;) ) so until next week!

It's been a while..

Hey Everyone! It's been a while, sorry I haven't been back for a bit. Thanksgiving break just happened and I've been keeping myself busy this entire week. But anyway, my Thanksgiving break was pretty good!! I got together with my family up in Dallas, PA and we shared a wonderful Thanksgiving meal, and we had good times playing Apples to Apples with practically all of my relatives there, including my Grandma! I also worked my kitchen job at Chick-fil-A on Black Friday and Saturday, and it was definately a weird experience going back there to work. But anyway, back to the present.

You can tell it's getting to be the end of the year around Immaculata! They brought in the big Christmas tree yesterday to the Rotunda, and already today it is nearly fully decorated. I love the big Christmas tree because Christmas is the best holiday around, and Immaculata knows how to celebrate it. For instance, this weekend, we're having a Christmas Cotillion dance, which, if anyone knows me, I'm always a fan of going to dances cause of the songs and good times. Sunday is our Christmas banquet, and I can say I'm also lookin forward to that, and that should be a good time also, complete with good food and Mac, the mascot. So, that is all that's coming up, and even though I've got a billion things to do, there's no way I'm passin all this up!!
