April 27, 2006

I am going insane. Exams and term papers and EXPLOSIONS!!! in my brain. If I have to do one more thing, I will spontaneously combust. Prepare for a bonfire, I guess, because whether I like it or not, it has to get done. This is maturity, I guess--being tired and falling down and wanting to pass out, but waking up the next morning to go to class and work and giving it your all anyway. It's only a bit longer--three days left of class :D

This weekend ought to be fun--we have Spring Fling: Shipwrecked at IU Friday and Saturday, with a dance and a picnic and stuff. This weekend is also Homecoming for alums, so there'll be lots of alumnae on campus. I can't believe how warm it got all of a sudden: I should have brought my shorts back when I came back to school from Easter Break!! It's nice, and kind of sad in a way--we get out of school in approximately three weeks--where did my freshman year go? At least I have a lot of good friends, good times, and good memories to show for it---I'm glad I got really involved and went to things and sometimes didn't do my homework and went to the mall or on a Wawa run instead. Because while I have the grades and newly acquired knowledge to show I worked my backside off, all the homework-doing sort of blends together with high school and grade school and everything else; it's not particularly noteworthy. The times we went and laid out to look at the stars, danced around in a huge rainstorm and got soaked, sat around and talked about life and our hopes and dreams---those are the things you remember. Your paper might get started an hour or two later (and you might have to pull an all-nighter), but as long as it gets done and you've done your best, does it really matter? The homework and papers and assignments won't ever end, no matter how early you do them, but college will. I'm so glad I made sure I made my first year memorable.

I don't believe it-the year is coming to a close--where did it go?? I mean, yeah, sure, sometimes I thought it would never end, but yeesh! We only have about two weeks till exams, and then SUMMATIMEEEEEEE!!!!!! I'm going to be working, probably somewhere like Barnes and Noble or something (I'm never going back to Sears, EVER), but it will be delicious! So, I was thinking back on this year, and I can hardly believe it:
I worked in admissions--high five there :D
Being on the Dean's List
Volunteering at Duffy's Cut--whooo archaeology!!
New friends hooray :-D
Got the LEAD :-D in the play--that was awesome!
FINALLY won a student election--I'm next year's SAIU rep--so what if I ran unopposed, I ran in every election in high school--EVERY ONE-- and lost, so pat on the back there... :-P
Aaaaaaaaannnnnnnnddddd.........I'm an RA next year!!! The only present freshman girl to be hired, out of something like 55 applications and over a lot of upperclassmen!!! I can't wait to meet my hallway! They say my enthusiasm will diminish, but I hope not--I tend to enjoy jobs other people get sick of, even if it's just to be contrary :P

So this has been a FABULOUS year--and the fun's just beginning!!! I have no idea what next year will bring, but I'm sure it will be hard, it will be fun, and I will succeed!!!

Wow!!! What a crazy weekend! First, we had the Mr. IU competition on Friday night, and then a dance after that. Then the next day they had a Student Athlete day and gave out free Rita's water (wooder :-D) ice and pretzels for attending games, and then after that was the Black and White Gala--which was lots of fun!! The boys were a little mad at us girls for taking so long to get ready but, hey, it's more than half the fun!!! Then today they had the Battle of the Bands benefit for Sara Hanna, with Alexa Rae Joel and lots of local bands. Do you think if I whine enough about this to my English teacher, she'll tell me that it's ok that I havent started the paper that's due ten hours from now? I read a bunch of articles and I've managed to open Microsoft Word, shouldn't that be sufficient? I mean, that took a lot of effort. :-o I really need to get out of this habit of leaving papers till the last minute---this isn't high school anymore!!! But now to climb out of the grave I've dug myself into---oh, the wonderfulness of dark circles and aching eyes.
