Home Sweet Home... Sorta...

Well, it's early September and that means that we're back to school. Classes are a surprise for some people, an absolute shock for others, and for the select few, a breeze. I have a good mixture of everything which is good but concerning at the same time. The easier classes make it so I have a little bit more time for the harder ones but the work can be stressful.

This past weekend I got to go up to Milwaukee, WI for the women's soccer tournament. It was great being able to go and seeing my girlfriend, Jordy, play. She is the keeper for the team and is a junior this year. She's a Biomedical Engineering major and has a work load unlike any other I've ever seen before. Honestly, I don't know how she does it.

Over the weekend, the girls went 3-0 to improve to 5-1 on the season! They have their home opener on the 12th is anyone is in the area, come on by! I'll be there cheering my heart out for Jordy and the rest of the team. As this is the first blog of the year I'm going to keep it a short one. I hope you will all come back and hear about what is going on around campus!

God Bless

Spring Is In The Air

Today has been a beautiful day here at Indiana Tech! The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and people are just happier in general. When the sun comes out its like people just forget about all the sorrows in the world and it boosts morale. That's how it is for me anyways. As one of my close friends said, "Its a beautiful day, there's no reason not to smile."

If you were here on campus you would see people outside throwing around a baseball or frisbee, maybe a lacrosse ball or two. Some people would be doing homework outside and taking in the sun to work on their tan, while others could just be going to a walk and enjoying themselves. Either way, there is no reason to not be happy with the weather we are currently having. Now, with this being Indiana and with the weather changing every five seconds it seems, we need to enjoy this weather while we can because we don't know how long it is going to stick around.

The finals schedule was posted today and as of right now I have two finals scheduled for the same time on the same day. That wouldn't be a problem if one or both of the finals were optional, but they're not. I'm going to have to figure out if there is a way for me to get the schedule worked out so that I can take both finals and not have to worry. One of my professors actually has the same issue where she has two classes that are scheduled to take finals at the same time. Mildly problematic, I know.

Spring break was last week and I was lucky enough to go to Tennessee with my girlfriend and her family. It was an absolute blast while we were there. We went around the towns and went shopping, we went for a hike up in the Smokey Mountains and it was killer on the legs! Some parts of it seemed like a straight vertical climb while others were relatively flat.

Right now I'm going to go and get some homework done and then I will be off to workout and then watch the women's lacrosse game. I thank you for tuning in and until next time have a great week!

Do You Ever Feel...

Do you ever feel like you've lost connection with people? There are a lot of people that have been in my life that I've lost touch with. I hardly talk with some of my friends from back home. I think that it is time for me to get back in touch with those friends. You ever notice how you just feel better when that happens?

So, as I said in my last post, I would answer questions that people left in comments. As far as going to my aunt's, I miss it a lot. Basketball has been really busy lately and I haven't gotten up there hardly at all. With basketball ending within the next few weeks I will hopefully be able to get up there more often.

It is never the same going time not seeing family. As most of you know, I'm not local to Indiana. I don't get to see my immediate family hardly at all. We can see each other on Skype but that just isn't always enough. I know it is still early in the semester but I can't wait until I'm able to see my family again for summer break.

I will post again this weekend folks. Until then I hope you all stay safe and enjoy yourselves!

Something To Mix It Up

So I have been thinking lately about how I could make my blog more interesting and more beneficial to you, the readers.

This blog post is more of an outreach. How the blog is supposed to work is like this. I am supposed to write about what life is like at Tech. I have nothing wrong with doing that but my life doesn't change that much on a weekly basis. So what I propose is this: I am asking for comments on this post to see what you, the readers, would like me to post about. If you have any questions feel free to comment and I will answer them. If there is something specific you want to know, I will tell you about it.

Please comment back and I will get back to as many of the questions as I can. I hope to hear from you soon!

Picking Up Where We Left Off

Classes are back in session and let's just say, it was nice not having them for a while. My class list this semester is Principles of Info Systems, Advanced Computer Integrated Manufacturing, Digital Imaging, Design of Experiments, and Managerial Accounting.

Principles of Info Systems is all about learning the ins and outs of computers and the different terminology that is associated with them.
Advanced CIM is a hands on class that deals with the relationship between technology and the manufacturing process.
Digital Imaging is essentially a Photoshop class that deals with creating and editing images that either I take myself or get off of the internet.
Design of Experiments is self explanitory. We discuss and design different experiments and the proper steps that go into said experiments.
And finally, Managerial Accounting is an accounting class but from the perspective of an upper level manager.

I was hoping that this semester would be more laid back than last semester, but I was wrong. With those five classes, trying to spend time with my girlfriend, plus being an RA, plus basketball, plus work, plus trying to have a social life, I will always be busy.

This past Monday, the 23rd, I started back at work. It was different getting back in the office but it was nice being back around everyone on the Admissions team. And getting the money coming in won't hurt either.

Well I think that is all for now. I hope you will all come back next week.

A New Year, A New...

Well, classes start back up in just a few days and I don't know how many people are looking forward to that. I surprisingly am. It will be a tough few months of classes but where is the fun in anything that isn't challenging?

Christmas break for me was relaxing and much needed. I had some doctors appointments just to make sure I had a clean bill of health, all is good there!

My girlfriend, Jordy, came out just after New Years and spent the last half of break with me and my family. It was her first time ever being to New Hampshire and we both had a great time! We were able to go up to the mountains and go snow boarding. It was both our first times ever boarding on a real mountain. We went candle pin bowling which was an absolute blast and it was her first time doing that as well. One of the best things that we did was go to the beach and watch the sunrise.

This is one of the pictures that we took and I thought it would be something that you might enjoy.

Please tune in next time so I might update you on my life at Tech!

Finally Finals

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog. Yes, I know once again it has been a while since my last blog and I would like to apologize. As I've said I have put a reminder for myself so that I will be blogging regularly.

As my title would imply, it is time for finals. Most of us here at Tech are thrilled and devastated at the same time. We're thrilled because it means that the semester is over and we get to go home and spend the Christmas season with our friends and family back home. On the other hand, we're devastated because it means that we have test, after test, after test. For me, I only have two real finals and a test of a project.

My first final isn't until Wednesday at 10 and then I have another one at 1. After that I am done for the day. Thursday I have one final at 10 and that is it! My two 10 o'clock finals are the real ones and my final at 1 is the test of a project. For the project the group had to build a tricycle from scratch and then we get to race them. I will be leaving to go home I'm hoping the 19th. The 15 HOUR drive by myself will seem like absolute torture but I've already done it once before. It will be nice to see the scenery in the winter time and I'm hoping that the weather will cooperate and allow for safe travels. Most people drive stupidly when it snows, but I'm fortunate to have lived in an area where snowy winters are normal. Because of this I am able to drive in the snow well and maneuver through the rough roads.

Over break I am hoping to be in the gym and weight room every day so I can stay in shape and keep my game up. I am signed up to play in an alumni game at my high school so that should be fun! I love getting in there and being able to play with guys I know and that I know will give me a good workout. The group of guys that I play with on Tuesdays and Thursdays are the same way. I'm the youngest out of everyone by about 12 years but they are in great shape and can play better than I thought they would be the first time I got in there.

Well, I'm off to hit the books and get some shut eye after. I hope you all have a great rest of the week and I'll be updating you again soon!

Umm A Little Wind?

So I don't know how many of you are in the Fort Wayne area but if you happened to be in Fort Wayne today (11/9/11) then you know why the title is what it is. We were under a wind advisory for pretty much the entire day. Now, I'm a 230 pound athlete and the wind was moving me while I walked. Flags were straight out, leaves were being blown around like they were in a tornado, and peoples' hair was not the same as when they left their room.

It takes quite a bit to stop classes at Indiana Tech. A little wind advisory is just another thing that we have to deal with being in the midwest. This is my third year and in the previous two years we have had two days get cancelled, total. Both of those days were because of snow and I don't think it was really necessary but I am not about to complain about not having class. It is always nice to get a day off here and there, especially when it isn't planned.

Registration has begun for next semester and students are meeting with their advisors, looking over the required classes, and signing up online. I signed up for my classes Monday night and next semester holds Advanced Computer Integrated Manufacturing, Design of Experiments, Managerial Accounting, Digital Imaging, and Intro to Info Systems. Next semester will probably be the toughest one yet. I'm not about to back down from the challenge though.

When life gets you stressed and you feel like you can't go anymore, just remember that somewhere in the world there is someone that has it worse than you. You're alive, you have your family, and whether you believe it or not there are people that love you. Don't let life get you down, just keep on keeping on.

It's Still A Struggle

Hey everyone welcome back. So as you probably guessed by the title of my blog things are just pounding down on me. As I'm sure it is for most every student here, projects are piling on top of homework and other tests. Basketball is still the usual couple hours a day and it is generally right after class so that makes it difficult to make sure everything is done on time.

Basketball, although tough, has gotten me into probably the best shape of my life. We had our first game on Saturday and won 74-73. The next game is 11/1/11 at home. If you're free and can make it to the game, the support would be great!

So some of the projects that I have going on right now are a Cost of Quality project for my Quality Control class, an overview project that covers four chapters for my Probability and Statistics class, and finally, I will be in a group that is building a tricycle from scratch as a part of my Manufacturing Processes class. Out of the three, I am most looking forward to the tricycle one. I've always been a hands-on person and you can't get much more hands on than building something from scratch.

Well I do believe that is all for now. It is time to get the homework done.

Wow, It Has Been Too Long

Hey folks sorry its been so long since my last post, things have been a little crazy. I have been trying to juggle school, basketball, work, and being an RA while still having time to keep my sanity. Not too much has changed in life. I'm still in all of my classes and they're still going well.

Basketball is getting better every day and it is some seriously hard work. Coach gets on us and wants everyone to be at their best at all times. We have a scrimmage coming up in a week and as far as I can tell we're just about there for the season. We all play with good chemistry and a lot of heart.

So in a little over a month we will be having Thanksgiving break. I am looking forward to being able to get away for a little bit and relax instead of being on the go all day.

From now on I plan on being sure to set aside a chunk of time to get on here and update you on what has and will be going on in my days.

Until my next post, stay safe!
