Thanksgiving and Winter Break (Finally)

Ladies and gentleman, once again I welcome you to my blog. Last week, as we all know, was Thanksgiving. It's been a long year and I'm sure we've all got a lot to be thankful for; I know I do! I won't go into those details as most of them are personal but I will tell you about my break. I was unable to go back home to New Hampshire for this break. Instead I went to my aunt's house in Garrett to spend the holiday with her and the rest of the family. We went to Kendallville to eat at my uncle's house and spend Thanksgiving day there. Of course the food was amazing but that was second to the fact that I finally got to spend time with my family. I haven't been able to go up and see them nearly as much as I did last year because of basketball and the fact that I don't have my car this semester. It has been hard not seeing them I can't lie. We had the usual food: turkey, stuffing, corn, sweet potato casserole, rolls, and, my favorite, apple pie!

I ate enough food to feel probably my entire family... twice. As I'm sure they will agree, when it comes time for the holidays, I will eat like there is no tomorrow and my life depended on finishing everything in the kitchen. With so much good food around me, how can I resist though? I don't know if there is a bad cook in my family. I know my parents, aunts, uncles, and my siblings have all had some of the best teachers around.

Over break I ran a couple times to total about 10 miles. I don't know if it ever got above 35 degrees over break. I was FREEZING by the end!

In just over two weeks I will be going home for winter break. I haven't been home in four months. As one of the other bloggers, Aide, can attest, being away from home for so long really gets to you emotionally. I know that we are both looking forward to going home and spending time with our families and get away for a little while. While I'm home I'll be spending a lot of time with friends and family catching up and just goofing around. I'm hoping to hit the ice and go skating a few times, watch some movies, play basketball and lift, and of course spend time with my family whom I haven’t seen in over 4 months.

For now, that is all. I do hope that you all had a great Thanksgiving and I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a Happy New Year!

God Bless!

8 Days A Week

Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome back once again to the blog of me, Alex Blomeke!

I hope all of you have had a great week and have enjoyed yourself since my last post.

Well, finals are coming up next week. As usual it is a very stressful time for any college student. I am lucky enough to have only two finals next week. I have one final on Monday, and another final on Thursday. My final on Monday is for my Computer Integrated Manufacturing class and that is at 10:00 am. This is the one final that I am actually worried about. It isn't because I don't know the material, just because we've covered so much material. Dr. Ortega, the professor for the class, went over what we've done for the semester and he said we did 300 Powerpoint slides, 14 labs, used over 15 different softwares, 12 homework assignments, and 57 in class assignments.

With that much work come a great deal of knowledge. I have learned a lot of "stuff" this semester in that class. Some of the recent stuff we've gone over is putting times and counters into a circuit so that it runs during certain times and for certain periods.

I took a final today in my Safety Engineering class. In there we've learned how to handle certain hazards based on OSHA standards. That was one of my easier classes because I've already gone through an OSHA certification class.

Psychology is my other final next week. We've pretty much hit all the basics of psychology from basic disorders to chemical imbalances. I have until Thursday to study for that test. I'm not too worried about that one because I try to stay active in class discussions and activities.

Today marks only 8 days until I am able to go home for the semester break. I will be back on campus January 13th for basketball and until then I will be at home relaxing and enjoying myself with activities I stated in my last post.

I will be telling you all about finals next week when I post but until then I thank you for stopping by and reading my post. Have a great week everyone!

God Bless

'Tis The Season

Ladies and Gentlemen welcome back to my blog once again. This weekend is a special one for me as I'm sure it is for most of you. Today is Christmas Eve which means tomorrow is one of the biggest days for Christians.

As I've gotten older the meaning of Christmas has changed drastically. I can remember when I was younger Christmas was only about the presents and getting everything I wanted from Santa. Now that I'm older, those things don't mean nearly as much to me. What matters to me now is being able to see my family and spend time with them. Being able to see them is a gift in and of itself.

I am loving being home and I love being able to see my parents and my siblings. Today and tomorrow will be pretty much 100% family time and I cannot wait! Most of my family will be going to church today at 4:00 p.m. I personally will be going at midnight.

The family time today will consist of about 40 people all packed into my grandparents' house. It get crowded, hot, noisy, and at times a little crazy, but I wouldn't change a thing. I love being able to tell stories with everyone, catch up on what's been going on, and eating all of the food. As I've said in an earlier post, I've got some great cooks in the family. They pull out all the stops and although its the same food every year, it isn't the normal food that we usually eat so it's pretty special.

I will post again early next week to inform you of all the family happenings and let you know just how delicious the food was.

I hope all of you have a very Merry Christmas!

God Bless!
