HOOP IT UP

Whoop it up is all I can say. This past weekend was amazing. The Indiana Tech female’s varsity basketball team was outstanding. They won two home games back to back. One game was on Friday and the second game was on Saturday. This is my second year here at Indiana Tech and I have never seen the girls play this great. They faced both Marygrove College and Holy Cross College. This was a battle on basketball court. The games scores was so close together I thought the games were going to go in overtime. I don’t know all that much about women basketball, but I honestly can say that I wish I was playing in those games. The atmosphere was so powerful from the spectators all the way to the training staff. It was crazy at moments where people were getting injured to coaches yelling at the referees. The fans and the students were going ballistic. Everybody was on their feet so many times. These were games I am glad I did not miss. Out of both games the best game was Saturday’s game, which was Indiana Tech vs Holy Cross College.

Indiana Tech and Holy Cross was going at it the entire game back in forth with big lay ups, free throws, and three pointers. The coaches were going in on each other. They would set up plays that out coached the other. That bought a lot of excitement to the game. The best thing that got me hyped about the game was that the coaches gave every single one of their players playing time and was not being selfish by only letting the stars of the team play. By the coaches allowing the other players participate in the intense game that shows what type of person and coach they are. Also it tells a lot about the college they represent. That is a huge plus for me. Having more players play allowed people to score more points. That is what brings us to the last 55 seconds of the game. Indiana tech was up by ten points. Then Holy Cross brought the heat shooting jumpers ending the game only loosing by a close 4 points to Indiana Tech with the final score 79 to75. That was a game that made several people full of energy.

Way To GO

The past weekend I went to the Indiana Tech girls Volleyball conference championship tournament hosted at Indiana Tech. There were two colleges that qualified to be in this championship race, which was Indiana Tech vs. Aquinas College. This was game that had everyone on their feet. The Indiana Tech’s Gym was so powerful people driving past could hear the excitement that was happening in there. This was an amazing game to watch. Those two teams got skills. They knew the game and knew just how to make the crowd get hyped. As the game when on Indiana Tech was on type but Aquinas was not playing. But they could not top the Indiana Tech Lady Warriors in game one or two, but game three Aquinas got revenge on Indiana Tech by winning game three now this brings us to game four, which was the most exciting and emotional. These two teams was fighting to see who was going to take this title home with them. The home crowd was fighting the away crowd this is something I only saw at football championships. This same action happened my freshman year also, but was not this intense. So as Aquinas was serving they brought it hard to Indiana Tech with 3 to 0 run. But Indiana Tech was not having that. They came back with a 4 to 3 lead. Then the scores kept going back and forth back and forth. When I heard the referee whistle something amazing happened the coaches started calling time outs, which hyped up the game even more because both Indiana Tech and Aquinas was scoring several point in a row as in back to back.

Now this is the part that everyone was yelling trying to get the players to work harder on both teams. The score is now 22 to 24 Indiana tech only needs one point to win the championship. “SCORE” by Aquinas the announcer yelled. Now the score is 23 to 24 Indiana Tech just needed one more point. Next thing you know “SCORE” by Indiana Tech Lady Warriors. Wow the noise of the Gym went from loud to silent for a few seconds then everyone yelled really loud. It was crazy. There were people becoming real emotional all over the place, but it was all good because it was all for the love of Volleyball.

After won against Aquinas Indiana Tech Lady Warriors moved on to go to nationals where they lost to Malone University in game 5, which was held at Indiana Tech. The lady Warriors had a great season winning Conference championship and tournament championship. They ended the season having several All Americans.

Band and More

This was the busiest month in band. That means basketball season has finally come. Without the band then The Indiana Tech females and males basketball games could not be better than they already are. Let’s take a dive into the basketball and band life at Indiana Tech.

As a Member of the Indiana Tech band I have really enjoyed this year Thus far. Setting up for the basketball games are fun because it gives us time to converse with the fans and let them understand that the game is going to be hyped. After the band is finished setting up we warm up. If the band did not warm up then the beautiful music we play would sound jacked up and no one would get into the games at all. Now after warming up we play a few songs to get the crowd prepped for the big games. Once we get the crowd hyped then it is time for the games to start. That means it is time for the band to play the National Anthem. The teams and the players are announced. As they are announced the dancer dances and the cheerleaders cheer. This is an Indiana Tech tradition. I love it because it brings in so much joy. As the games start of fans are yelling, cheering, getting emotional by the calls the referees make.

As the band get in the game we are like fans at every home game. We don’t play when it comes to our sports. We enjoy playing at time outs and half time because it allows students to and fans to have fun at the games.

The Best part of in being in the band is that I get to be at every home basketball game and witness a chance of history to be broken. For example this past weekend Indiana Tech Men’s beat Ohio State University- Lima in a blow out game with a final score of 97 to 55. Now Indiana Tech is ranks in the top 25. The band gets to get the players and fans even more hyped at the end of the game after Men and Women Warriors come off with a victory.
