Easter Weekend

I always have trouble concentrating after spring break! This year was great because Easter weekend came just one week after spring break. My weekend was busy, but it turned out really good.

On Saturday we had a track meet at Cincinnati. It is always the coldest meet of the year, and I can't say that anyone on the team really looks forward to it. This year was no different. Even though it was cold the team did great and placed second over all. This meet is unique because it is a relay. For throwing events, they take the two longest distances on your team and add them together. Places for each event are then organized by the total distance. Sara and I were the throwers and we placed 3rd in shot put, 3rd in hammer throw, and 4th in discus. Even through we were successful, I think it took me about 2 hours to get warm after the meet.

Sunday was a family filled day!

This is a picture of my sister, Jeanette and I at my Grandma's house. We went there for lunch and we had two easter egg hunts. It was great to spend time with my family and get to see all of my cousins! It was also nice to get my mind off of the busy semester.

This week will be very busy. I have many things to get done, but I do get to go on a trip to North Carolina on Wednesday night. We have a meet there, and it is supposed to be 81 degrees on Friday! It will be great to get away from the continuous winter that we are currently experiencing.

Mad Ants Game

What a week! Its mid semester as you know and now its finally spring break! The track indoor championships went well last weekend. I threw a season's best, and ended up in 12th place. Overall the team placed 6th and our best individual place was Crystal Martinez with a 2nd place finish in the 5,000 meter run (that's 3.125 miles for all non runners out there). We had a lot of fun on the trip and it was great to have Sunday to relax before the busy week.

Mid semester always brings some stresses with tests and papers, but I'm happy to say that's all over with. Last night, to kick off spring break, I went to the Mad Ants game. The Mad Ants are part of the NBA Developmental League. They play just over at the Coliseum and this is their first year. I had never been to a game before last night and it was an awesome show. The Mad Ants ended up losing 109-115, but it was the first basketball game that I had ever watched where both teams scored over 100 points! It was also fun to watch all of the activities going on during the game and during time outs. I even got a free pair of thunder sticks!

I have to admit the best part of the week is knowing that its finally spring break! I don't have any major plans, but I will be going home for a few days and doing some major relaxation.
