Keeping Busy at School
One of the great things about a small school such as Lasell College, is that there are so many opportunities to get involved around campus in activities, work study, or even creating your own club.
As a senior, most students enjoy the time off before they are forced into the "real world." However, I am the exact opposite. It is important to me to be involved around campus. This year I am doing an extra amount of work to keep myself focused and busy. I am a student staff assistant in the Registrar's Office two days a week. Another two days during a school week you can find me in the bottom floor of the Brennan Library in the Academic Acheivement Center helping students who have trouble with Accounting and Algebra. The rest of my free time is taken up by field hockey, homework, classes, and informing everyone out there about life at Lasell through this blog engine!
Keeping busy is a way that I can stay focused on what is most valuable about my time here at Lasell, and that is my education. I am taking five classes for a total of 16 credits this semester. These classes include International Trade and Finance, Advanced Accounting, Calculus 2, Investments, and the classroom segment of my Internship. As you can see, I don't take the easy way out! I am always looking for a challenge in my educational experience. Unfortunately, there are times where I am not challenged here, but then there are certain times especially around mid-terms and finals that I am extremely challanged in the classroom and out of the classroom.
So far this semester I have had the occassional quizzes and short papers, as well as the regular homework assignments from most of my classes. Because Lasell is a small school you really get to know your professors extremely well. This is a definite advantage to the students because when they take more than one class with the same professor, it is easy to get familiar with their style and what they expect from you as a student.
In recap, I want to say that it is very important not to come to Lasell and expect great, big, extravagant events. We are a small school and we pride ourselves on that. It is up to the students to get involved and make the campus experience more rewarding. Its all about your time here and how you use it! So enjoy! Chao!
