Thanksgiving week

So this week is Thanksgiving and we only have 2 days of classes. I feel like I have a lot of work to do though because everything is due in the next couple of weeks. But it is nice to have a short week.
I will be driving to NJ to visit my family this afternoon and returning on Sunday. I have a 5 hour drive ahead of me which isn't too bad when I listen to a book on my Ipod (one of the greatest inventions ever).
Thanksgiving will be spent at my sister's house. I am looking foward to seeing my family since I have not seen them since school started in August. I hope that everyone has a great turkey day!

Lock Haven

I have come to realize how much I appreciate this area that Lock Haven is located in. This semester I have become very involved with the outing club. It is a club here on campus where we go hiking, camping, backpacking, kayaking, and all kinds of other outdoor activities. I never realized how much there really was to do in this area until I started to go out and explore. There are so many great vistas, hiking trails, and rivers in just this area.
I know this probably sounds odd, but even now in the cold I am enjoying kayaking and hiking and camping. I am looking forward to a future backpacking trip in the next couple of weeks. Even as I watch the snow fall all I can think is that the snow is putting water into the river to raise the level to go play in (yes I do know this sounds crazy).
So I have to say that I am very fond of telling people that if you are bored at college that you are not taking advantage of all that is being offered to you.

Yay its Friday!

This week was another busy week. I really don't think I have had that much of a break this semester. It started with an Art History exam Monday.
Tuesday we worked on a rocket kit in Physics club because we will be doing a rocket launch next semester. We have teams of 3 and we will be building our own rockets and decorating them. We are going to see whose goes the highest.
Wednesday I had my usual day, then a meeting with my advisor, the presidents meeting for club stuff, then an outing club meeting for camping this coming weekend. After the last meeting we made signs and then went food shopping for the camping trip.
Thursday I spent the entire day in the Art lab because I really need to finish up my projects.
And now Friday I had my usual classes then we had a Nanotechnology open house. We have a great program here at Lock Haven for Nanotecnology and we like to share that information with students from around the area. A few of us from the physics club put together a short demo show for the students. And now I have to get ready for camping. I am not even packed yet and we are supposed to leave at 5. Oops.
Have a great weekend all!

Another week done

Well this was a pretty good week. It started on Sunday with a 3 and a half hour hike with some friends of mine. We tried to find the bald spot on the mountain, but didn't. But that’s ok because it was a lot of fun anyway. After that I had a quick meeting at work then we hung out for the rest of the night.

I had a quiz in Economics on Monday again and I have another on this Monday too. I also have an exam in art history this coming Monday so I need to do some more studying.

Anyway, back to the events of the week. This week seemed to be less full then the past few weeks, but I didn't mind the break from the work of my classes. Friday, a friend and I took out a couple kayaks to the river to play around. He was in his liquidlogic playboat and I was using a perception Mr. Clean. He was teaching me how to roll the kayak since it is a good skill to know when going through whitewater. The boat that I was using is an edgy boat, which means it can tip easily if I drop the edge; so rolling is a must for me. I tried over and over and just couldn't get it. I was close though. Every time I was almost up I would lift me head which would make me tip back over. So next time I will get it. My friend was a great, patient teacher and I really appreciate his help. Hopefully I will get a chance to really play in the river soon and get a feel for the boat going through some small waves.

Today was an open house program through the admissions office. We had a lot of families visiting today which was a lot of fun. I love to meet perspective students and talk to their families and share information about the campus and the classes. It turned out to be a nice day too, rain was predicted this morning but not a drop fell during the day.

Now I think I am going to go do some studying for art history.
