Goodbye :(

Hey Readers:

The time has come for me to write my very last blog to all of you. It has been a blast writing each week for you guys to read and now it is coming to an end. But, it’s like they say, all good things must come to an end.

My experiences here at Mount Aloysius the past three years were amazing. The friendships and memories I've made here contributed greatly to my love for the college. From runs to Sheetz to late night hang outs to the Halloween dances and college trips, they made my stay at the college both fun and exciting. Saying good-bye to them is going to be the hardest part for me....because I know I won't be missing the school work anytime soon…Haha. The professors and their genuine concern for the students as well as their passion for teaching is something that I will miss greatly as well.

Many people come to college and become eager and anxious to be done so they can start working and making money. We sometimes lose sight of what we will miss when we leave and move on to bigger things in life.

If you are a reader and are coming to Mount Aloysius, you will have an awesome time and will meet some really cool people. Be careful, because if you blink, it'll be over before you know it. Time flies by so fast, therefore, you need to cherish the moments as they come. Best of luck to everyone in all you do in life. And for the very last time....cya.

Time Capsule

Hey everyone,

Hope you enjoyed yourself this past week. It was a busy week early on for me. I had a bunch of homework to do, a presentation to finish and a paper. However, after Thursday, my work-load will be a little lighter to finish up the semester.

This week, I submitted my stuff for the Class of 2009 Time Capsule, which will be opened 25 years from now in 2034. It is going to be crazy to see all the things people donated 25 years from now. It was nice to see all the things I saved and collected over the years. The things I submitted ranged from the very first sweatshirt I bought and wore from the Mount to McCain Palin bumper stickers. I also went through a bunch of photos on Facebook, going all the way back to freshman year. I have awesome memories with my friends here at Mount Aloysius College and will never forget them. The hard part for me, after I graduate, is going to be the fact that I won't be spending it with my friends, who are all coming back to finish their senior year.

Well I am going to wipe away my tears...haha...I’m just kidding, I'm not a crier. But it is a sad thing to leave people who you have become so close with over the years. Well this is all for me. Hope you all enjoy your weekend...I think it is supposed to get up in the 70s! Until next time....cya later.

Relay for Life - "Toonin' out Cancer"

Hey everyone,

I hope you all had a great Easter and that is was spent with family and friends. I enjoyed being home for the holiday. All I did was eat tons of candy that my little brother and niece got from the Easter bunny. I got to see my extended family, some of whom I have not seen since Christmas, so that was nice to see everyone again. I also got to see a bunch of my friends from high school too.

This week, I finished up my 20-page Capstone paper. It was due at midnight on Wednesday, and I submitted it with a couple minutes to spare...haha. CAC (Colleges Against Cancer) is putting on the finishing touches for Relay for Life. We are working hard to put on yet another successful year of Relay. The event is going to be outside this year in front of Ihmsen Hall. We just hope that the weather will stay nice for us. We have many great activities planned throughout the entire 24-hour event to help beat cancer. If any of you are in the area, stop by and join in on the fun!

I hope everyone has an awesome week. Enjoy the nice weather and until next time....cya later.

Happy Easter

Hey everyone:

I hope you enjoyed yet another week of April. I cannot believe my last break as a Mount Aloysius student has come. We have off Friday and Monday for Easter break. I will be heading home on Thursday. I am very excited to go home to see my family and friends. It has been a month since I was home last.

This week was a short one, so it flew by quicker than usual. The PT Club was selling Easter eggs to raise money for children with Muscular Dystrophy. We are trying to raise $150.00, which will pay for one session of physical therapy. There was also a guest lecturer on campus this week. Sr. Margaret Farley gave a lecture about death on Wednesday night. It was an informative and interesting discussion.

Well this is all for me this week. I will be spending a lot of my time over break working on my 20 page paper for my Capstone class. I hope you all have a blessed Easter and until next time....cya later.

Accepted Student Day

Hi everyone:

You should see all the snow that we got here a couple of days ago! I was shocked to see that much snow in spring. April Fools!...haha...or as my dad always says, "April Fools for next year." I hope everyone enjoyed their week and, yes, we are now in April.
This past weekend was a busy one on campus. There was the First Annual Mickey Miney Volleyball tournament hosted by the Women's Volleyball team. The tournament was on Saturday and they had a good turnout. Then, Sunday was Accepted Student Day. We had a huge turnout this year! It was nice to get to meet some of the future faces of Mount Aloysius College before I leave. I sat on a question and answer session with a few alumni and was also a part of the informational session regarding my major. I love helping out with these events, because you get to meet and help many people throughout the day, and for the most part everyone is very appreciative. The day was even more exciting for me, because my mom came out to see me for the day. It was nice to have her here and introduce her to everyone.

Tuesday was a busy day for me as well. I participated in the 2nd Annual Service Learning Exposition. I gave a presentation on my service trips to both Honduras and Jamaica. I focused on the lack of physical and psychological assistance in orphanages in poor countries. I love giving presentations about my experiences and I think everyone enjoyed my story. After I was done with my presentation, I went down to the PT Gym to the PT Club's PTA Alumni Social. The club worked with Natalie Vesey from Alumni Relations to host the social. We asked PTA alumni to come back to campus to socialize and network with club members. We updated the alumni on the accomplishments of the club over the past couple of years. In addition, we presented the Office of Institutional Advancement a check for $200 to go toward the Charles Thomas Scholarship Fund. Charles Thomas was a PTA instructor a few years back who passed away. There is now a fund to try and get a scholarship in his name.

This is all for me this week. If you are in Cresson at all this weekend, come to Alumni Hall to see the musical "Edges," playing Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. Enjoy your week and until next time....cya later.
