"Little Shop of Horrors"

It's coming around the corner. It's almost here. Audrey II!!!! Mount Aloysius College is bringing this man-eating-plant to the stage in Alumni Hall. Yours truly is portraying the characters of Orin the sadistic dentist, Bernstein, Skip Snip, Patrick Martin (Sleezy buisnessmen), and a bum. It's a really fun show that is great for the entire family. Please see this show.
The rest of the week. Hmm....BUSY!!!! My Shakespeare class is starting to read "Hamlet". Musical this week. I have a table for a craft show at Bishop Carroll on Saturday (I'm making handbags). And I need to start working on my entries for the anti-tobacco movie making contest. I'm kinda swamped, so I've gotta get to finishing some of the previously listed chores.

Amidst my busy week though, I think that it is most important for me to get my beauty rest to give great performances every time, which is on March 29, 30,31 @ 7:oo p.m. Also, there is a Saturday matinee at 2:00 p.m.

I hope to see you there.

Iron Chef and Such

This past week was fairly busy. I have read half of Shakespeare's "The Tragedy of Julius Ceasar." I bought some DVD's on ebay(Shout About Movies Disc 2,3,&4).

Mount Aloysius College hosted its own form of the hit TV show Iron Chef. There were three teams of five that were selected to compete. We were given one hour to create a five course meal (Beverage, salad, hot appettizer, entree`, and dessert) with the provided ingredients. There were some strange items to create real meals from. There were basics, such as fruit and vegetables, and more complex items like beef jerky, sour patch kids candy, and cocoa puffs. My team, registered as team BAM! but wanted to change it to CHEESE, placed second. We were inventive and ventured into certain items that the other teams chose not to use.

All of the teams made a smoothie beverage and the appettizer was made the last few minutes of the competing hour, garlic bread with chicken strips, season-all, and cheese (named "Our Last Resort"). The salad was an Oriental salad that the girls of team CHEESE made. It received excellent reviews. The entree was rice with grilled chicken and shrimp with a variety of seasonings and sided with "The Manliest Crepe I Ever Did Eat!"

The Crepe was mostly my idea. Bill Cross suggested that it became a crepe instead of a quesadilla. The crepe had grilled/diced peppers, onions and beef jerky with cheese. It was quite a succulent example of manhood within a crape. Finally, Team CHEESE made the Kammakazi Fruit Platter for the dessert. There was a fruit dip the consisted of cream cheese, blueberry yogurt, and peanut butter. The platter had slices of melon, apples, oranges, with grapes and strawberries. The garnish and lemon wedges made the display quite festive.

The other teams did an excellent job. Team Skill-It looked like experts with presentation. With the use of toothpicks, fruit can take to the skies. If anyone is questioning the caliber of this event and the quality of the dishes created, ask our very own Frank C. Crouse, Jr., Vice President for Enrollment Management. Why? Mr. Crouse was one of our three judges! He also brought his son to partake in the fun. Frank needed a second opinion on some of the foods, and little Brendan helped out.

Well...The musical is comming around the corner. March 29, 30, and 31 @ 7:00 p.m. in Alumni Hall. Be there. I am busting my butt to master several accents. My main character is Orin the sinister dentist. Please support the arts at Mount Aloysius College.

Come to campus soon -- you are missing a lot!

Peace out!

Home Sweet Home

Midterm week. What a week. Ok, not really. I only had two midterm exams and one of them was a take home. I didn't perform as well as I would have liked on my Shakespeare midterm, but that's my fault. I live a very busy life. For instance, on Wednesday we took advantage of the beautiful snow day and participated in a sculpting contest hosted by the SGA. I spent the majority of the day sculpting. My intention was to make the Travelocity Roaming Gnome. But that turned into a penguin with a baby chick. I ended up tying for second place in the contest. First place was a giant cake that Liz and Katie made. Second, with myself, was Laura with the Mountie logo and Danielle was third with the Loch Ness Monster.

Apart from midterms, we are having midsemester break. I am currently home for a long weekend. I am probably going to do some school work and help around the house.

Well, next week will be here soon.

Peace Out!

New Toys

I got a new toy this week. I'll give you a hint: it's bigger than a coloring book and smaller than a pony. Tired of my shirade? It's a MACBook. I purchased a MACBook from the Apple Store On-Line. Let's say, it's the coolest!! It came with a remote. Let's remember that it's a laptop computer, therefore this remote is used for my multimedia purposes. No matter what programs that I have open, I can use the remote from across the room to open my media programs (i.e. iTunes, iDVD, CD player, etc.). I can then cruise through the different programs and select what I want using the romote.

The MACBook also has a camera and microphone built in above the screen. Two word definition: Totally Sweet!! I have already used the microphone to make a live recording of the cast of Mount Aloysius Little Shop of Horrors during a musical rehearsal. This thing is great!!!
What else?? Well, to be honest, my mind is too absorbed in my new toy. Maybe next week I'll have something intelligent to share.

Peace Out!
