My name is Jason Horton and I'm from Shrewsbury Massachusetts. I'm a member of Northeastern's Class of 2009, which makes me a senior or fifth-year student. I'm a Business Administration major with a concentration in accounting as well as a criminal justice minor. After I graduate, I would love to join the FBI as a forensic or investigate accountant. I have been on three co-ops with Deloitte and Touche where I've gained great hands-on experience that I was able to bring back to the classroom.

At Northeastern, I am involved in the Resident Student Association (RSA), which is the premier programming organization on campus, planning awesome programs for residents. This summer I am a member of the 2008 Orientation Team, serving as an Orientation Leader. I will also be a Resident Assistant starting this fall.

Christmas Break has Arrived...

The moment that I have been waiting for all semester.....Christmas break! I did very well in my classes and I'm very excited that classes are over until September. I'm now officially a senior! One more co-op and eight classes and then I enter the "real" world. Scary, huh?

It's not as scary as it seems. Northeastern has prepared me so well for what is to come. Not only do I have classroom experience, but will also have 18 months of real world experience at a professional accounting firm.

I've been working all break at my high school job. I work at Sachs Jewelers, a family jewelry store, back home. It's great because whenever I come home for break, its their busy season! So I have two more days of work there this week, and then it's back to Boston for New Years Eve. The fireworks and ice sculptures should be pretty awesome this year.

I'll write again after New Years with pictures!

End of the Semester!

The most stressful time of the semester....finals. Three down and one to go! I took my final in Race, Crime, and Justice today. This was an elective class for my criminal justice minor. It was a very subjective exam which made it pretty tough. Only one week left until Holiday Break; I can't even wait!

This past weekend was awesome! We announced the winner for The Amazing Husky Hunt. As I said in my last post, the Husky Hunt is a 600 person scavenger hunt throughout the city of Boston, sponsored by the Resident Student Association. The winning team's name was "Soon...But Not Yet." This team consisted of twelve of the orientation leaders from this past summer's orientation. They received a large check promising them 12 roundtrip tickets on JetBlue.

I'm currently in the process of applying to be a Resident Assistant (RA) on campus. RA's live in the residence halls with students and plan different programs to help students get to know each other. In order to be considered, there is an application, two different essays, two letters of recommendation, and an interview. If I am selected, the compensation is free room and board for the semester. I have to wait until February to find out if I am selected for Fall of 2008. I will keep you all updated!

Back to studying, I'll write again soon!
