My name is Jason Horton and I'm from Shrewsbury Massachusetts. I'm a member of Northeastern's Class of 2009, which makes me a senior or fifth-year student. I'm a Business Administration major with a concentration in accounting as well as a criminal justice minor. After I graduate, I would love to join the FBI as a forensic or investigate accountant. I have been on three co-ops with Deloitte and Touche where I've gained great hands-on experience that I was able to bring back to the classroom.

At Northeastern, I am involved in the Resident Student Association (RSA), which is the premier programming organization on campus, planning awesome programs for residents. This summer I am a member of the 2008 Orientation Team, serving as an Orientation Leader. I will also be a Resident Assistant starting this fall.

Viva Las Vegas!

Hello Again! This is going to be short because I'm SO busy!

This week has and will continue to be very busy! With the start of the Summer One semester, I'm moving out of my current residence hall and into West Village H. Campus has become so quiet with all the freshmen moved out!

This past Friday was my last day to serve as the Vice President for Finance for RSA. I have mixed feelings about this. I am happy to be done and able to live my personal life again, but I will definitely miss the day to day interactions that I had as VPF.

I have three more weeks of co-op after this week. I am still on the Hedge Fund client for this week, but moving to a small start-up audit in Cambridge next Monday. Will also be very excited for co-op to end in a few weeks, as this is the first Summer that I have had since freshman year without class or co-op.

VEGAS is this weekend! The trip that I mentioned before is finally here!!!! Nicole, Liz, and I leave this Friday evening from Logan and arrive in Las Vegas around 10 PM. My room mate from Northeastern, Mike, who is on co-op in San Diego, is meeting us out in Vegas for this adventure! I'll update you when I am back!

Summer is ALMOST Here!

This past weekend I saw Ludacris, The Roots, and the Toots and the Maytals shake our Northeastern campus arena. Springfest is an annual event put on by the Council for University Programs (CUP), a student group on campus devoted to campus programming. Last week's events were themed 90s Nickelodeon style and included; Vanilla Ice, a "Double Dare" type challenge, a karaoke evening, and ending with this rocking concert.

As I mentioned in an earlier blog, I recently traveled to California with the Co-Op Connections office representing Northeastern as Homecoming King. I attended numerous different alumni events including the San Diego Crew Classic, where I was able to see our very own Northeastern Varsity team win 5th place in the final competition.

While in California, Sonya Mariotti and the office of Co-Op Connections invited co-op students who were on working in the San Diego and Los Angeles area to an incredibly fun dinner and the San Diego Zoo.

Below I have a picture with a group of the California co-op students on top of the Marriott in downtown San Diego. Behind us was a great view into the Petco Stadium, and we were able to catch the end of the Padres home opener from this amazing rooftop terrace.

Back on campus, the 2007-2008 Student Life Awards for Northeastern were presented this evening. It was great to see all the student groups come together in our auditorium to cheer each other on, congratulate each other on a great year of leadership and remember the great memories from this year.

April 1st....Already!?!?

Now it's beginning to finally feel like Spring! The weather is getting warmer each week, the snow has melted, and the rainy April days have moved in, but most exciting is that BASEBALL season is starting! Go Red Sox!

Last week I found out that I have been selected to be a new student orientation leader this summer. I am thrilled to have this opportunity, and can not wait to mentor the new freshman class and transfer students. Maybe I'll even be your orientation leader! Orientation training starts at the end of May, and the orientations will start at the end of June.

This past weekend, RSA had their Spring Internal Conference in Wells, Maine at Village By The Sea conference center. This weekend was full of various programs about diversity, creativity, and of course, our organization. We also had a scavenger hunt, a polar bear swim in the Atlantic, a Top Chef competition and bowling! The trip's attendance included forty-eight members from RSA's General Council who have dedicated numerous hours of their time to the organization and University throughout this academic year!

As the semester winds down, I am finding my days to be filled with dinners, get togethers, and various recognition events. The first of which will be tomorrow night; I will be attending a reception hosted by the President of our University for Northeastern's finest student leaders and dedicated alumni volunteers.

On Friday I will be flying out to San Diego with Co-op Connections for the San Diego Crew Classic. This is an Annual Crew Race in San Diego that draws alumni from all over the West Coast. As the Homecoming King, I will be attending on behalf of the University as a proud husky and experienced co-op participant. I am thrilled to have this experience!

With a full schedule ahead, until the end of the semester, I am sure to be busy around campus and Boston! As always, please feel free to send me your questions or concerns. I will be gearing up for orientations soon, so feel free to ask me about the orientation experience!
