Visiting New Haven
Well, another few weeks have already gone by, and I haven't been up to too much at home other than working and hanging out with my friends from high school. I have been able to sneak in a good chunk of time thought to work on my my architectural software. And I actually went to New Haven (CT...where Yale U. is located) yesterday, and I forgot what historic beautiful buildings are thoughout the city. I visited the Yale University Art Gallery designed by Louis Kahn, which was very much a modern approach to housing artwork throughout history. It was filled with open spaces and lots of light, while playing with texture and pattern with the construction of material. For instance, the ceiling throughout the main floor had this interesting triangular coiffering out of concrete. The town's green is also surrounded by numerous other fascinating buildings, as is Yale's campus. So if you are ever in the area its worth a trip.
I also recieved a comment from a future NU Arch student asking about computers. There is a webpage on the architecture webpage that explains the university's suggestions. http://www.architecture.neu.edu/undergraduate/computer_suggestions/. I have to say too that I LOVE my mac!
