Teacher MIA; Students AWOL
Woke up from my bizarre post-Mirror Lake Café sleep and went to Music 250 recitation. I knew exactly where the room was since my Music 251 rec. was in the same place. So I get there and find a boatload of people waiting outside the door, and as much as I hate to do so, I followed the crowd and leaned up against a group of lockers and waited. I honestly wasn’t even sure if it was my class I was waiting for. It was really dumb; I should have just screwed everyone and walked into the classroom. I don’t know what the big deal was in the first place.
After a while, some girl flounced down the hall, walked up to the door, and just went right in, no hesitation. Immediately everyone who had been waiting in the hall filed in. I actually laughed outloud and said to some guy who was standing next to me, “That’s really all it took?
I don’t know why people, including myself, are so apprehensive about “the first day of school. I mean really, what harm is it gonna do to be the first one in the classroom, or strike up a conversation with your neighbor while you are waiting for the class to start? 25 people literally sat and stared at the front of the classroom, not saying a word, for about 10 whole minutes. And yes, I know “it’s only awkward if you make it awkward, but I wasn’t about to be the one to break the silence.
Eventually someone brought up the whole “if the teacher doesn’t come in x minutes, we can all leave thing; how legitimate that claim is, I can't say. Either way, everyone in the class pretty much got up and left. I had nowhere to go since my next class was immediately after and only two blocks away in the opposite direction of my dorm. So again, by default, I find myself in ye old Science and Engineering Library, my fav. place to veg/ pretend to study. That’s all.
Welcome back to school, self!
GO BUCKS!
