First Year Experience

2 weeks left...things are really winding down here. An upper-classman said something very interesting to me the other day. She said you never get your freshman year back, no matter how much you try, even if you live in the residence halls again, even with the same people. You can never get back that experience again. (I guess that's what that whole "First Year Experience" group at OSU is. They pretty much do everything for us freshies.)

So no, despite my first thought, that doesn't mean it's all downhill from here. It's just not going to be that frightening, exciting, new opportunistic community, where everyone is best friends with their roommates and the whole floor is a big soap opera. It's time to start taking things seriously. This is a good thing: it means we will have more recognition, better treatment, and you know the ropes. But this freshman year was definitely something to cherish. As we enter into this next level in this short chapter in our lives, it's a good time to reflect on how far we have come in this one year and what we have discovered. We may never get it back, but we can certainly use what we have gained for the rest of our lives.
