Experience Needed...Write Now
I’m really getting worried about gaining writing experience for my career. If I want to be in a writing job after college, then I am in sore shape. I’ve been applying to UWeekly, a student-produced news magazine, for a couple of months now, and I never hear back from them. I’m running out of ideas on how to get “in with them. I’m not really a big fan of the student newspaper, The Lantern…and there aren’t many other options.
I’m meeting with an Internship Specialist at Arts and Sciences Career Services this week so I can start sending out my resume/cover letters, but to be honest I’m getting worried that I’m not even qualified for an internship. How can I get experience if I don’t have enough experience to qualify for that experience??
So basically, I’m freaking out and applying for a million back-up jobs at Ohio State (Conference Assistant, Summer RA, Orientation Leader)…all I know is I don’t want to go back to Stow, OH and get a crummy minimum wage no-skills-needed summer job. But if I don’t start getting some writing experience soon…it might just be too late.
