So far, so good
Well, we’ve hit Winter quarter head-on, and as far as Winter quarters go, it’s not half bad. I’m taking an Honors Biological Anthropology class. This counts as my second Biology GEC…I absolutely HATE biology, so I figured taking the Anthropology part of it wouldn’t be so bad. Yeah, not so much...biology is biology, no matter how you put it. Still, it’s an Honors class, so it’s a small setting with a professor, which is nice. However, our professor told us the other day that in Honors classes, the professor evaluates the students at the end of the quarter, which factors into awards and such…a little intimidating. This means I can’t sit in the back and zone out, like I may have done in a 500-person lecture or two. It’s good incentive to be involved in the class, though, which makes it all a lot more tolerable, even in the winter.
I switched my Public Speaking class to Political Communication at the last minute…Political Communication is essentially a big debate among the students, and it can get pretty intense. Plus there are some adults in the class, so the age gap makes the debate a little more interesting.
Honors Economics has been pretty rough. My teacher, Professor Kagel, was described to me as “crazy but good before the class started…that’s kind of why I picked it. It’s just a bunch of crazy information all over the place, but when I put it all together, I’ve actually learned something.
I’m also taking Theater 367, a theater writing class, with some of my friends. This is a second-year writing course GEC, but so far we haven’t actually read any plays. We’re working on persuasive speeches right now…pretty convenient considering I just finished by Persuasive Communication class last quarter.
So all in all, I’m enjoying my classes and I may actually be able to tolerate Winter quarter this time around.
