Opportunity Knocks
I had an interview for a job this week. It was for an organization called Association of College and University Housing Officers-International (ACUHO-I…quite the mouthful). They essentially establish a network of housing professionals, through books, a magazine, the Journal of College and University Housing, various publications, their website, and workshops/conferences. I was informed about this job from my hall director, since they were looking for people like RAs who were familiar with the inner-workings of Residential Life, but the position is actually for student editor/writer. This would be an amazing opportunity for me, and it’s something I can do for awhile, including while I’m here in the summer. It’s actually the perfect job for me during college.
If I get this job, though, I’m going to have to make a few life adjustments as far as my involvement goes. To be honest, school’s the top priority, the RA job is the second, and along with being alive that’s literally enough to fill one day. But if this job works out, I am definitely feeling it’s worth any sacrifice I’m going to have to make in the time-adjustment department. This is my chance to get some real writing experience for publications in a real job environment. And it’s all about housing, which we already know I love!
