When Life Wears You Down

I’m exhausted.
Of course, we’re in college. Who isn’t? Well, there was a time, a long time ago, when I lived a lifestyle of “fun, constantly with friends, watching movies or playing games or just hanging out. Now I spend more time planning fun for others then actually having any myself.
After a week of 1) late nights/early mornings studying for midterms, writing papers, and just trying to get through my econ homework, 2) late nights having absolutely nothing to do with homework but the RA job and the disasters that go with it, 3) working weird hours at the front desk (my other job—college is expensive), and 4) just the general drama involved in having at least remnants of a personal life, I’m too tired to even move by Friday. And there’s so much work left, I don’t have time to move anyway.
I see all my residents getting ready to go out, and I think, where do they get that energy? Then I think, oh boy, how old am I?
Of course, there really isn’t anywhere to go to get away from it all besides to visit my old friends on North Campus…another dorm. Not much of an escape. And without roommates, having “a night in isn’t exactly what it used to be.
They said this job was a lifestyle adjustment, right? But even if I wasn’t here, would I still be sitting around in recovery mode? There has to be a point where you have no reason to “go out anymore, or at least it’s no longer on your list of priorities. I just didn’t think it happened at age 20.
The funny thing is…I have quite a few friends who feel the same way. Maybe we should all get together on Friday nights and have a study/nap pajama party. At least then we’d all be together, and I figure that’s really the point of “going out in the first place.

I'm pretty sure I live in your building.
