And make peace with an empty town.

Math never ceases to surprise me. I mean, I can study all I want, do all the practice problems, learn all the shorcuts—it doesn't matter. When you get the test, the questions are always just different enough to throw you entirely off track. You know how to do them, you've just never done anything like them—think the 2007 AP Calc AB exam. This is how my math test was this morning.

I answered all the questions, but I didn't have time to go back and check the ones I had to rush through. Math has generally been one of my better subjects, but just like physics, I'm never prepared enough to handle anything you throw at me. Of course as soon as you turn in the test you realize how simple some of the problems were—simple u-substitutions, mixed up pluses/minuses. But it's too late.

I'm home for the holiday. I've got a paper to write for English, reading for political science, and a résumé to prepare for survey class—and that's it. Ha—that's it. Then I'll be back at OSU for a week and two days; I leave Tuesday, the 4th, after my political science final.

The quarter's ending so fast, even though it felt so much longer than 9 weeks. I'm looking forward to winter quarter; I get to take classes more relevant to my subjects of choice. But I'm going to miss having only two classes each day, taking naps all the time—things are going to change.
