And this is what you get for pulling pins.
I'm going to be the editor of Fisher, Ink. I don't know when—or how—but I will. Eventually. Here's my plan: (1) I'm going to impress the current editor with my fantastic article-writing abilities; (2) I'm going to wedge my way into a position of creative control—suggest all my story ideas, critique others' articles, etc.; (3) I'm just making up this plan right now and I have no idea what I'd do at this point. Hopefully I'll have made it?
I don't want to major in journalism or communication; I don't even want to write for a living. But something about being editor is exciting to me. I like to be in a position of authority.
My suitemates are playing some computer game right now. They say it's fun, but I don't believe them. Instead, I went for a run. It felt good to run. (Except for the searing cold that froze my lungs. But I got used to it.) I ran five miles in about 35 minutes. My breathing was relaxed, my muscles loose—I felt great. But cold—very, very cold. And of course the showers in our suite only get luke warm. (Yes, we just sent a service request.)
Tomorrow I begin studying for finals. I only have two, and I have nearly 100% in both classes. So I calculated (because I math me good) that I'd need an 82% on both finals to get a 93% (A) in the class. I probably shouldn't have calculated that; it's really going to deter me from studying.
I also decided I want to like music more. I know, I know, you can't just decide you want to like something better and then—boom—it happens. I know it doesn't work that way. I tried it with reading. (Ha.) But my taste in music is so narrow; I hear too many songs that I can't even name. I need to be more versatile, more open. You know, try new things. Plus with Ruckus, I can legally download all the free music I want…as long as it stays on my computer. Still worth it.

If you are interested in being an editor, I'm on the planning committee for OSU's Journal of Undergraduate Research. The journal will be published online and will hopefully get started in the next quarter or two, and we need section editors for Science & Technology; Social Science, Business & Education; and Arts & Humanities. Let me know if you're interested, I can put you in touch with the committee co-chair.
