Be it silk or slime.

Halloween is my favorite holiday. Because it’s not about worrying whether you got the right present for your mom. It’s not about being nice. And whatever your age, Halloween is always appropriate. What’s better than a night of anything-goes and nobody-knows?

But today didn’t feel like Halloween. You know how it is: some days you go outside, smell the air, look around, and to you it feels like the first day of spring or Christmas or Halloween. But today it just felt like autumn.

Maybe it was because Wednesdays are my busiest days. Being in class all day kind of kills the spirit. And on top of that, I typed up a resumé, joined Fisher Ink, thought up story ideas for my Lantern debut, and made a sculpture from the pieces of my broken 4×4 Rubik’s cube. I got a lot done, but it just didn’t feel like Halloween.

When it got dark, the conditions were perfect for a run. So I ran. Thirty minutes, just around campus. I spent the rest of the night hanging around the dorm with the suitemates and later launched a super-secret-midnight grammar correction/potential act of vandalism on the 15th floor lobby. The missing commas on some of the posters had been eating at me for a while. Today was the day I grabbed my red Sharpie and corrected the wrongs, the gross illiteracies.

Happy Halloween, everyone! I hope your holiday was filled with just as many horrifying grammar spooks as mine.

Happy Halloween!
