Follow the lines and wonder why…there's no connection.
Certain songs carry with them certain memories. Away From the Sun reminds me of the Nordonia track meet my junior year of high school, Love Like Winter reminds me of Jenna, and anything by the Goo Goo Dolls makes me think of inner-city Cleveland. The Alternate Routes are the first band I’ve discovered since coming to Ohio State, and now Aftermath reminds me of walking to math class in the cold at 8 in the morning.
Being unable to sleep at night makes you realize these things. Especially when the only other alternative is watching the green smoke detector light blink, and blink, and blink.
We beat Michigan today. Only I didn’t see it, but I saw the score. And we won. I know this might sound blasphemous, but I couldn’t care less. Football isn’t my thing, and I understand the whole rivals-till-death acrimony, but it’s still football and the game doesn’t change anything. The only thing it does do is give people a reason to jump in Mirror Lake. And if not just for that, it’s worth getting excited about.
I still think more campus food locations need to be open on weekends. And past 2 a.m. I can’t be the only one getting hungry at 3 a.m. who can’t wait till morning. I also can’t be the only one who refuses to live on PAD pizza until Monday.
I’m going home Wednesday for Thanksgiving. That being said, I’m not taking this coming week too seriously. I’ve got a paper due Monday and that’s it. I also just remembered I have readings for political science on Tuesday. So I lied—I’ve got to take this week seriously, even if it is only three days. And after next week, we’ve got a full week. And then come finals.
