And when there's nowhere else to run.
I’m going to Texas—Houston, to be more specific—on a rather spur-of-the-moment New Year’s trip with a few friends. I have never even been on a plane before, and because I’m afraid of heights, this trip is going to be Fear Factor for me. But I’m looking forward to it. I can’t even remember when I could go outside sans-hoodie or go for a run without freezing my lungs.
I’m going to be leaving shortly after Christmas, and once I’m home, it’ll be time to get back to OSU. It took this for me to realize that I still have a lot I need to do. I intended to review all my old AP Econ material from my junior year of high school since I’ll be taking an intermediate economics course this quarter. (I hope my first-year teacher didn’t miss anything that I would have learned in Econ 200 and 201—that could be troublesome.)
So while watching VH1’s compilation of the greatest songs of the ’90s, I lugged my old stuff onto a nearby table. There’s a lot. I probably shouldn’t have devoted that time to studying, though. Not only did VH1 completely distract me, but I kept getting up for food. Delicious. But some good did come out of it—VH1 scored some more points in my book when they named Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit number one. (They lost major points with me when they made Fergie’s Big Girls Don’t Cry video of the year.)
Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are obviously monopolized by family obligations—so I won’t get much done then. And since I’m likely leaving for Texas on the 27th, the 26th is going to be a day of hanging out with friends one last time. All of this means I have today and tomorrow to review economics and catch up on my reading. And having known myself longer than anyone else, I can guarantee that I will not start till tomorrow evening at the earliest. If at all. Texas better be worth it.
