It’s about the middle of winter break and I haven’t done anything. I brought six books home and I actually expected myself to read at least one of them. They’re still sitting right where I put them after I unpacked.

I don’t have much to write about. And I’m not saying nothing’s going on, because there’s a lot happening right now. Just nothing relevant, nothing that seems important right now. Well, there is this internship opportunity that I have for the summer. My mom and her accountant apparently started talking about me one day and he told her he has a job for me this summer, if I want it.

I called him a few days ago, you know, to swap contact information and get things arranged. He didn’t pick up, so I left a voicemail. I went through the list of things I needed to mention and hung up. And then I realized I forgot to leave my callback number. So I called again and left a second message. He’s not going to believe that I’m an honors student, is he.

We’re supposed to get a lot of snow here. It started snowing this afternoon, and it wasn’t supposed to stop until early Monday. It stopped. It hasn’t been snowing for hours now. Sometimes, I actually hate the weather people. I know I shouldn’t let them get my hopes up, I know I shouldn’t take what they say for fact. But they have such certainty in the way they gesture at the blue screen behind them, and such confidence in wielding their meteorological lexicon that you kind of forget they’re always wrong.

I want to get back to Ohio State. I’ve got big plans for next quarter; it’s the make-it-or-break-it quarter. I’m going to get more involved, I’m going to do my homework, I’m going to exercise and attempt a healthy diet. But I know it won’t last. I’ll stick to the plan for two, maybe three, days, and then it’ll just fall apart. I’ve never kept a promise I’ve made myself. What makes me believe that ‘08 will be the year?
