Assassin is born.

Lincoln Tower is playing Assassin this week. Everyone is given a secret target, a fellow Lincolner whom they have to “kill.” Now, I wasn’t too crazy about playing, mostly because I thought I’d be paranoid for the whole week. You know, waiting for my assassin to stick his post-it note on my back, thus completing the kill.

Fortunately, I was furtively eliminated sometime this morning when my suitemate told me he heard “rumors of my assassination.” I looked an my back and, sure enough, there was a purple post-it stuck to my hood. Someone is very sneaky, and someone has made me very much relieved.

It’s freezing outside. And it’s also windy. I vote that it shouldn’t be allowed to be both cold and windy, because no matter which way you walk, the wind is always excoriating your exposed skin. You make it to class just in time to avoid frostbite, and I’m sure I’m not the only one who mutters profanities whenever a particularly strong gust strikes.

I pulled an all-nighter last night. I had a psychology exam this morning and had put off studying till 4 a.m. Needless to say, I was too tired to study after that, so I really didn’t do much. But I got to class early to learn vicariously through those who had also come early to read over their notes. I think it worked; I was the first one finished with the exam and there were only two or so questions that I couldn’t answer fully. So I left a humorous answer, turned in the test, and left.

Tests in college are so much different than they were in high school. I never had to study before and I never had to worry about failing. But in college, you can study all you want—there are still going to be tests you are destined to fail. Take the Econ 501.02 exam, for example. I prepared excessively for it and thought I’d do just fine. But when the professor distributed the exam, I just kind of stared blankly at it. I looked around at everyone else; they were all doing the same thing.

I got a 64 on that exam—my lowest exam grade to date. At first, I was horrified that this would count for 30% of my grade, but when he mentioned that the average was in the low 40s and the standard deviation was 20, I felt a lot better. Most people scored in the 20s, but someone got a 97. But I hear there’s always going to be someone who screws the curve like that. Always. But I’m content with my 64 and have found some good in it. First of all, it’s a perfect square. And is it merely a coincidence that my favorite gaming system is the N64? I think not.
