It's my life—I see no end.
I decided I had to skip at least one class the first week, and I decided to use my skip at the last possible opportunity: Friday morning stats lecture. But my professor puts a podcast of last year’s lecture online, along with the day’s notes, so I really don’t see the harm.
I never really realized how great it is to have no curfew. At home I always had to be home “at a reasonable hour,” which meant 1 a.m. at the latest. Over winter break, my privileges were extended a bit: I came home at 4 a.m. a few times, and other times I just stayed the night at friends. But it was always in the back of my mind that I should probably be getting home.
But not here, not at college. I’m usually out hanging with friends till 3-4 a.m. every night. I get less sleep on the weekends than I do on the weekdays. There’s just not enough time to sit around and do nothing. I’m not going to lie and say that my lack of sleeping routine hasn’t screwed with my academics—it has. I don’t study as much as I should, I skip class because I’m too tired to go, and when I do go to class, I’m too tired to pay attention. So I wouldn’t recommend it, but I love going through college like this.
I’m finally getting my friends just as into Gilmore Girls as I am. We’re watching the entire series at a rate of about one DVD per day, which means we’ll be done in about 42 days. It only took a few episodes for them to learn the theme song, so now I’m not the only one singing along with it when it comes on. “If you lead, I will follow…”
What else is new…well, I guess I can mention that I haven’t really been using many meal swipes. I’ve used fewer than five so far; I’ve been ordering out for food too much and subsisting off what my mom gave me from home.
It’s a weekend, which sucks for food availability—all the good places are closed. There’s Mirror Lake, but I’m kind of over their subs every since I had a Subway sub recently. It just kind of ruined it. There’s the RPAC, which I used to get coffee and a bagel at every day last quarter. I haven’t done that even once yet. The only good thing about weekend food is brunch at Morrill Commons—they have awesome breakfast food, and it’s all you can eat. The only problem is the hours: it’s only open from 10 a.m. till 2:30 p.m. I know, I know, that’s pretty good. But I slept till almost 4 today, so it doesn’t usually work out for me. Plus it’s usually really crowded.
I’m not really sure what I’m going to do today. I have some homework I should probably get done, some laundry. But I think I’d rather just hang out here and listen to music.
