Fear of the Unknown: R.A. Edition

It all started when my R.A. pulled me aside and told me that I would make a great Resident Advisor. At time, I was a new freshman starting Autumn quarter, and I had not given such aposition as that any thought. But after giving it some serious thought (which you do more and more in college), I decided to give the whole application process a try.
First it was the online application. That took a long time, but that was okay. Then the group interview. That took a while, but that was alright. Following that was the personal (gulp) interview. Then after aalll that (are you getting tired now?), THE CLASS.
Even though the class was a staggering two and a half hours long (don't worry, we only met once a week.) I believe that I learned so much from that experience. Every week we were assigned different readings that dealt with a lot of things you will face in college life, like dealing with alcohol, diversity, and time management. We had watched videos, did activities, and participated in the 'Images of You' conference (see the entry!) . I also had to plan an event for a hall and shadowed a Resident Advisor (it wasn't really a very action-filled night, but it was still fun). But the thing I loved the most about the class were the people in it. The instructors and classmates were so different from me and each other, and I enjoyed hearing their perspectives during our discussions. Because of them, I feel that I have grown to become a person who is more open and appreciative to what makes us different from each other.
Now that the class is over, I am terribly nervous! On friday, at 5:00 p.m I will receive an envelope that will determine my fate (whether I will be an R.A. or not). I've done the math and I have about 53% chance that may be offered a position. I'll be sure to let you know!
