A Meijer's Can Save A Life (From Boredom). Summer Edition
A couple of days ago, I walked to Meijer's.
I had been in my temporary living quarters (at my sister's town house) ALL DAY, with the exception of leaving the room for occasional food raiding. Because her townhouse is pretty much removed from what I know to be the rest of civilization, looking out my window was as thrilling as watching a late-night infomercial about a miracle cream that promises to rid acne, scars, and a low self esteem. *Gasp*. Did I mention that I don't have a car? Well, even if I did, I can't drive--I was terribly afraid of Driver's Ed in high school.
News stories can do horrible things to a teen's fragile mind.
I'm not a person who really likes to complain a whole lot because nothing gets done. Or mope (that is a weird word by the way, or maybe it's just my ennui talking...). Yes, adventure was calling me to go beyond my four white walls, but my only options were the complimentary work out facility (which looks sorry after you've been to the RPAC!) and a Meijer's that is 5 minutes away--by car. Meijer's it is!
Since most people in the area that I currently live heavily rely on their vehicles, you can imagine how I looked walking alongside the road. Pretty ridiculous. A few people even stared at me as they were driving by (I know, exactly as I was thinking--KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE ROAD!) A group of guys packed in one car even were even thoughtful enough to bear me a gift for making my arduous journey--a pack of condoms.
I didn't know whether to laugh or comtemplate the decline of moral conduct to one's fellow human being, but I'm pretty sure I did both.
After finally scurring across the road like a squirrel, I FINALLY made it to my destination. The swosh of the automatic doors never sounder so beautiful, the air conditioning so crisp. I spent about 30 thirty minutes exploring, focusing mainly on the food aisles (all that walking made me hungry!) Because I ran out of juice at home, I bought a Meijer's brand of fruit juice promising a medley of concentrate.
Then I was off again...
