Buckeyethon: A Success!
Although my back is still sore and I barely woke up at 3:45 pm, I am so, so glad that I participated in the Buckeyethon this year. Last year I didn't get involved because I was working, I really didn't know what to expect. I only knew two other people on my team, the yellow team. After missing breakfast before arriving for registration, a 14-hour dance seemed a bit daunting.
But fortunately we were fed throughout the night! But more importantly, we were really united in this cause of helping Nationwide Children's Hospital. Some of the kids were present for the event and it was so overwhelming to see the gratitude of their families. A few of them even danced with us!
Although Buckeye Hon is a 14 hour dance, there were also other things that the dancers could do at RPAC. There were tables set up with cards and board games, corn hole, and Basketball. In between the dancing videos were shown, some which covered personal family stories who were helped by the Nationwide Children's Hospital. President Gordon Gee even made a few videos. Of course, I danced. In fact, I was chosen to represent the yellow team for the team dance-off. While dancing, I made so many friends and memories.
The only regret I have of this experience is not working really hard to raise money. The event raised over 50,000 dollars to give to the hospital, which is really amazing! I have already decided that I'm going to participate next year and make a harder effort to financially support this service project. It just doesn't seem right otherwise, when I've gained soooo much.
