Sibs Weekend
So this weekend was Sibs Weekend and there were a lot of activities for entertainment. I didn't go to all of them, but I did attend two because a number of my RA staff members were involved in either the Sibs carnival or the RPAC Luau.
I walked past the carnival Saturday night on my way to visit my boyfriend and there were a lot of things going on! There were inflatables, balloon animals (and Brutus the Buckeye, how cool is that?!) and carnival food like popcorn. It was weird to see the court, which is usually filled with sweaty people chasing an orange ball populated with students and their kin excited as if they were witnessing the Cirque Du Soleil--what a magical transformation!
My boyfriend and I also went to support the Luau at the RPAC Friday night. Every Friday, the RPAC hosts a university-wide program for students to enjoy, free of charge. Some of my staff members put together the luau as something that the people of all ages could enjoy. We when got there, we were shocked as to how many people we saw! There were kids in the pool, near the pool, in the food area, near the drinks with family or friends. I could barely hear the DJ over the kids splashing and screaming with glee.
Unfortunately my little brother couldn't make it this weekend like we had planned. Because my room had limited spacing for a 6'5'', 200 lb. male and myself, my brother was going to stay with my boyfriend in his triple (which he actually cleaned for the occasion). I was really looking forward to it because since college life gets so busy sometimes, it can be challenging to keep in touch with people back home. My brother is planning to come up later this month, so hopefully that will work out!
