Music!!!
In the past week, I have had the phenomenal opportunity to see two of my favorite people in the universe musically perform; two vastly different genres, yet two extremely enjoyable experiences. I made my way over to Weigel Hall on Wednesday night to see the OSU orchestra, and last night (Friday) Addison Lane played a set for a Battle of the Bands hosted by Romophos (the OSU sophomore class honorary) at Newport Music Hall. Needless to say, Addison Lane won the battle of the bands and rightfully so! I had a lot of people over at my house before hand and we walked to the venue in a huge group. It was an eventful evening, and the sound quality at Newport was/is amazing. The boys in the band are used to playing at small bars and venues around Columbus and the surrounding area, so being able to play for a 500+ crowd was an exhilarating experience. We were on air the whole night.
The Orchestra set was great too, because I don't normally have the opportunity to walk across the street to hear such a collective and impressive sound. It's challenging, and surprisingly rewarding to attempt to focus in on one instrument, especially when it's the viola section (my friend's instrument). Now if only I could find a job that pays me to do this every day...
