Bon Voyage!
It’s all culminating. Last night I attended a get together with four good girlfriends to catch up before this crazy last week of school and to just generally make sure we all understood our dates of departure, upcoming plans, etc. Of the five of us: one was leaving the following week to Rio Grande Valley Texas for the Teach for America program, one was on her way to Dallas for a job in June, one was leaving for Spain to be a nanny and teach English for a year in August, and my last friend is not graduating until December 07', but then she is most likely off to Australia for at least 6 months. And these four only represent one section of my social networks.
It hasn’t hit me until recently how different my life is going to be next year. We all go through this, whether making a transition to college from high school, accepting a job in another state, or whatever it is, but this time, I will be here and a large portion of my friends will be moving on to bigger and better endeavors. While I’m proud of them and I’m excited to have free places to stay all over the world, I’m not ready for the long exhausting e-mails and phone calls, and the incredibly strong desire to further my own life.
I guess I'm just going to have to keep it interesting.
