Seriously? It’s here? Today I watched what seemed like 10 million people walking across the football field to receive proof that they had taken classes for 4 or 5 (or 15) years. Although my last entry revealed a strong desire to move on, I was happy today that I didn’t have to deal with emotional parents, tedious procession details and ridiculously hot black graduation gowns. (Although I currently have a sunburn that would make a lobster look pale, so that might have been a wise wardrobe choice).
I thought that Bill Clinton’s speech was fantastic. I actually found myself getting a little teary eyed as he touched on ideas of collective action and celebrating diversity. I would say I’m a fairly harsh critic when it comes to speeches of this nature (especially when one’s wife is running a presidential campaign for the upcoming year) but I thought he kept it simple, short and meaningful. Thanks Bill, you made my day.
In other news, events like graduation bring wonderful celebrations and I was treated (through association of a graduate’s parents) to a delicious meal at G. Michaels in German Village. <-----This is definitely a link worth checking out. German Village is one of the best areas that Columbus has to offer. I am consistently impressed with every restaurant I dine in, every lovely cobblestone street I walk across and every event I attend in this area.
So, all in all: a hot, memorable, delicious day ;)
