School Time

I remember how High School used to be so long. 7 or more hours of your day for 5 days a week. Of course College is different with your class time totally defined by you. I had my classes starting after 11 a.m. last year and would have only 1 class on some days. Now this is a huge jump from being in school 7 hours everyday to having a 48-minute class and that's it.

I didn't know what to do with myself. Freedom was knocking at my door. I would stay after class with the feeling of "Is this really it, the class is over?"

Well that was my reaction to a short class, when I experienced the 2-hour course, I really didn't know what to do. Although it was a 1:30-3:18 class, it seemed eternal! How can you be in a single class more than an hour or an hour and a half? I brought Shock Tarts and all kinds of candy and snacks to stay up. But sometimes I would find myself sleep in my Skittles with no notes written down.

It really depends on the course. Some lecturers will have you out of there after an hour while some go passed the time. Generally I would stay up in smaller classes, especially if I had someone I knew in it with me. But for a 2-hour lecture where I didn't know anyone and the professor was boring, yeah I was out sleep.

But not all the time because you have to stay awake for those classes that don't have the notes or the Power Points posted online. And if I didn't get all the notes down, I would definitely be in that professor's or the teaching assistant's office hours trying to see what I could get.
Thank God for the Quarter system, because it's a quick 10 weeks and I'm out of there. I would dread being in a class for the entire semester.

I can honestly say though that I have never missed a day of class in college. Now I have come late to many, but never absent. I'm grateful for my education, especially to be at THE Ohio State University. So I don't take that for granted. If I cant get up for simple 48-minute course, then I don't need to be here. Even if I think I know all the information, I'm still going because it seems like the very day you miss class is the day some pertinient info was given out or the day for pop quiz that you can't make up. Plus, Professors love those who come and they take notice (especially since I sit up in the front).
Now I love too sleep, but I can do that as much as I want after class and Hopefully not during!
